Nigeria was ahead of China in the 1960s and 1970s, then she stalled and China never looked back.

China did three key things:

1. Provided free quality education for everyone, especially rural children (Nigeria has more children out of school than the entire population of Belgium).

2. China resolved its agricultural and food crisis by focusing on rural areas and mechanised farming. Key word: “rural”.

(Nigerian rural farmers still farm with hoes and rainwater.)

3. With a well-fed and educated labour force, China then allowed the West to establish industrial clusters on the coast where local Chinese could learn skills.
