I express my sincere gratitude to President @azpresident for the warm and gracious welcome extended to me on my maiden official visit to Azerbaijan.

Over the past few years, our partnership has steadily expanded, underpinned by recent economic cooperation in the aviation sector, collaboration in industrial parks and free trade zones, and joint engagements between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and its Azerbaijani counterpart. These initiatives have laid a strong foundation for the continued strengthening of our bilateral relations, which, through today’s in-depth discussions, we have agreed to further consolidate and elevate.

Today, we also presided over the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defense and the exchange of several memoranda of understanding (MOUs).

Our talks focused on strengthening the longstanding ties between our two countries, expanding cooperation across key sectors, and enhancing coordination on regional and global matters of mutual interest.

Re Prez Trump's offer to mediate Nile discord between Ethiopia and Egypt. In 2020 US position was not neutral, clearly favoring Egypt. If US mediation now is fair, it could succeed with GERD completed and if both sides respect the other's position.

Institution building and readiness are core responsibilities of government. That is why we have taken deliberate and far-reaching measures to strengthen Ethiopia’s finance and economic institutions.

This afternoon’s Finance Forward Ethiopia conference, which brings together the nation’s key public finance and financial-sector institutions, provides an important platform to reflect on our ongoing economic reform journey and the priorities ahead. It is an opportunity to highlight the progress we are making in fiscal management, monetary and financial sector reform, revenue administration, capital market development, investment governance, and public enterprise reform, while underscoring the vital role of coordination and connectivity in sustaining reform momentum and advancing Ethiopia’s broader economic transformation agenda.

Because our environmental protection system is weak, we have been losing our fertile soil, which is extremely difficult to replace once it is gone. It is encouraging that the environmental protection work, begun through cooperation between the people and the government, has started in this way before the rainy season arrives. The Immigration and Citizenship Service has been carrying out various reform initiatives in recent years to address the service gaps that had been observed. At present, the institution is providing services supported by modern technology and fully digitized, including passport, visa, Ethiopian origin ID, entry and travel documents, services for foreign nationals, as well as air and land border control services, along with other related services. Overall, the institution is working to further modernize its service delivery system so that citizens are satisfied and clients are well served.

Ethiopia is actively investing in water infrastructure to improve access to safe and reliable water for households, agriculture, and industry. Current efforts include expanding piped water systems, rehabilitating dams and reservoirs, and developing irrigation and water storage projects to support farming and food security. These initiatives also focus on improving sanitation, reducing waterborne diseases, and strengthening resilience against droughts and climate change. By prioritising sustainable water management and equitable access, Ethiopia is ensuring communities have the resources they need for health, livelihoods, and economic growth, while building a foundation for long-term development.

The tea development initiative, which is part of the Green Legacy program, is being implemented successfully. The promising start observed in planting, if followed through with full agro-processing and supported by private sector participation to add value, will benefit our country through exports in addition to meeting domestic consumption needs.

When we see through the eyes of abundance, we recognize that Ethiopia is a land of plenty and enough for all. The finale of our visit with a high-level delegation of current and former leaders to the Bale Zone took us to the breathtaking Fincha Habera Waterfall, which cascades majestically and flows into the Weib River that feeds the Sof Omar cave system. This remarkable area, home to the Ethiopian Red Fox, rich in birdlife, and near the striking Rafu rock pinnacles, has recently revealed a newly discovered cave system. Soon, it will become even more welcoming to travelers with the ongoing construction of a glamping site for accommodation.

Members of the former and current leadership visiting over the past three days have been deeply inspired by the natural, cultural, and human wealth within our reach. Our shared task is to uncover, nurture, and build upon these treasures so that the next generation may carry the mantle forward. Ethiopia is indeed a land of abundance. Let us come together, dare to dream, and build our collective tomorrow.
