Episode 23 of "One Eleven At A Time" the show, subtitled “After the Feeling Leaves”
Tonight we take a word people spend like perfume and put it on the table. Love. Not the greeting card. Not the heat in the chest that gets credit for a whole life. The question that actually matters: what still stands when the sweetness walks out of the room?
English asked one syllable to do too many jobs — desire, habit, loyalty, hunger, duty — then handed that syllable to songs and sermons and sales. This hour studies the term before it spends it. A pretty sentence can open a door. It can also close an audit. If the good for another person cannot survive an ordinary day, we will not let the word wear a halo it did not earn.
This is the night the costume comes off. The calendar gets a vote. The labor gets named. And the last voice in the room asks what you meant when it wasn’t sweet anymore.

"When It Ain’t Sweet" by Daxx Thorn
Lights down. Warmth gone. No ribbon left on the language. This song is the hour the word gets weighed. If the good still stands with the heat gone home, you meant it. If not, leave the word alone — and do not make another soul live on a sound you never grew.
“When It Ain’t Sweet” is part of Episode 23 of “One Eleven At A Time,” the show, subtitled “After the Feeling Leaves.” Wednesday at 7 PM Eastern I walk the whole thing.

Tonight I found the tiniest little baby squirrel in the middle of the road. 🐿️❤️ It was raining, and there weren’t even any trees nearby. I couldn’t just drive past him, so I stopped the car and got out to see if I could help. The sweetest part was that when I got close, he actually started coming toward me. I carefully picked him up and brought him home.
He looks to be only about 4–6 weeks old, and he is absolutely tiny. I immediately reached out to my friend who rescues squirrels, and thankfully, she’s going to take care of him tomorrow. She thinks he’s probably dehydrated, so for tonight I’m keeping him safe and following her instructions until she can take him. Just look at that little face.
I honestly don’t know how it happens, but animals always seem to find me when they need help—or somehow, I find them. Maybe it’s just one of those things about me. I can’t seem to drive past an animal in need, especially when it’s a tiny baby sitting alone in the middle of a rainy road.
I’m just grateful I happened to be there tonight. This little guy could have easily been missed, but instead he’s safe, warm and being cared for until he gets the help he needs. Sometimes the smallest rescues end up meaning the most.
