@NoahMaloneISU Always remember the role of social media in disseminating a message. Your audience here are considered as public viewers who are not necessarily part of the academic narrative and the we are sharing in class. Write a post that engages the public viewer. #discourse vs. #language
@JaydenTrueblood True! But we also need to remember that the message/content is a relative and highly subjective notion. What we, as a neutral third-party viewer/reviewer, call sidetracked or influenced content, a media producer or their inclusive viewer might call an on-point message.
@EmmaLan80229188@YourAnonCentral This is a wonderful example of how technology goes beyond a mere material phenomena and becomes an active cultural agent, or as Cathy Davidson says "Hacktive/Hacktion"!
@Ericabarker02 Interesting!! Elizabeth Losh defines 2 types of hacktivism: 1)Liberal: creating and modifying tools to raise awareness about structural inequalities. 2)Radical: attacks to state propaganda infrastructure. The one that you mentioned here is probably the first type.
@NoahMaloneISU That's an interesting point! So what does that say regarding the agency of technology? Is it just a random tool (like a screwdriver) that anyone could use it for any purposes, or it has some sort of active role in shaping our culture?
