For the new year, we are going back to basics. For the last 9 days, The Inner Truth Project provided you with 9 mind-blowing tidbits to reflect upon and share. Here is the last one. Enjoy.
10. Do not, under any circumstances, try to rape someone.
6. Don’t use booze as an excuse for rape.
If you know alcohol/drugs bring out the demon a.k.a rapist in you, then don’t do it. You can’t be a rapist if you have no intentions of it, period. Stop blaming alcohol & take responsibility for your actions.
5. Teach the men in your life not to rape or harass women instead of putting the burden on women .
Raise a man, not a future rapist. If you want to help end rape, go back to number one and tell that to your kids.
4. Don’t ever think “provocative” clothing is an invitation for sex.
Rape existed long before short skirts were invented. Stop thinking a bare body is meat for you to devour because you see it available in front of you.
Clothes don’t cause rape, rapists do.
3. Let’s keep it simple, sex without consent is rape. Sexually forcing yourself onto someone is rape. Using your authority, physical force, or coercion to have sex with someone, is rape.
Learn the signs when nobody is clearly asking for it and please, see #1 on this list.
9. Don’t ever date someone with the intention of raping them.
A meet-up does not always = hookup. Sure, things can spice up a little but if someone says “No,” it means NO. Forcing yourself onto someone while you’re on a date or even in a romantic relationship is “date rape”.
8. Let people walk safely alone.
We learned what happens when a girl walks alone so we grew up always having to protect ourselves. Victims were often blamed because “they weren’t careful enough”.But rape can happen anywhere, anytime. In streets, at home, day or night
7. Don’t do anything that would make anyone need to bring pepper spray to use on you.
People won’t need to learn self-defense and carry these preventive measures if they don’t have someone to use it on. Instead of requiring people to always be on guard, teach people not to rape.
2. Don’t be a rapist.
Rape exists because there are rapists. There are victims because there are perps. It’s a crime B/C sexual assault goes against someone’s will. Being a rapist makes you a criminal.
Wondering “how do I not become a rapist”, go back to #1 from yesterday's post.
