Just a brief note to say that my Dad, Vic Uttridge, was born this day in 1923, a hundred years ago to the day! Born in Eltham, London, where I grew up. He was nearly 89 years old when he died in 2012! The last of his 11 siblings, Ken, died peacefully last weekend, aged 98 years x

My Dad, Victor Uttridge died on this day 2012. In 1944 on this day he was a 20 year old in the Royal Tank Corps crossing the channel as part of the DDay landings to support the infantry! If he'd known on that day that he would live a further 70 years, he would have taken that!

He was subsequently captured in the campaign spending a year as a POW at Stalag XI B, in Fallingbostel, before being liberated by the allies in 1945! He remained in the army until discharged in 1947.
