Seventeen years ago today, our community watched in horror as Uyghur workers at the Shaoguan toy factory were brutally attacked and killed. The pain of that day did not end in Shaoguan, it became a catalyst for the tragedy that unfolded in Urumqi just days later and marked the beginning of a darker chapter for the Uyghur people at the hands of the CCP.
I think of the families who lost their loved ones, the survivors whose suffering has never been acknowledged, and the countless Uyghurs whose voices were silenced.

As the Chinese government continues to deny justice and erase the stories of Uyghur victims, we have a responsibility to keep their memory alive. Remembering Shaoguan is not only about recognizing those who suffered, it is also about standing against impunity and ensuring that the world never again looks away from the persecution of the Uyghur people.

Today, I pay my respects to the victims of Shaoguan Massacre, and I continue to seek justice, and accountability for every Uyghur whose life has been forever changed.

East Turkistan Human Rights Watch Highlights Uyghur Human Rights in Malaysia Meetings

According to East Turkistan Human Rights Watch, its president, Abdureşid Eminhaci, visited Malaysia beginning June 11 and held meetings with government officials, international organizations, and civil society groups.
He also met with representatives from the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malaysian Department of Islamic Development, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and several non-governmental organizations, including ABIM, GPM, IKRAM, and WADAH.
