@RNBlake "Now that the writing is on the wall for the insurance rip-offs, let's explore new ways to rip off leaseholders while pretending we've solved the original problems..."
@PeteApps From what I've seen, it would seem to have been started by flammable acoustic foam on the ceiling. Maybe the same as the Station Nightclub fire. Cheap packing foam instead of fireproof acoustic foam. Hard to tell the difference. Unclear why there weren't enough available exits..
@mhclg Mortgage lenders love it when it takes too long and the mortgage offer expires. You have to start all. over. again. With the exact same property and same details. And pay all the random mortgage booking and survey fees again. Even if absolutely nothing has changed.
@LostInSW19@mhclg And if you want to speed things up, fix the utter joke which is @HMLandRegistry. I shouldn't have to post PAPER FORMS with POSTAL ORDERS and wait weeks for documents. Oh, they doubled the fees and have NO plan to fix this nonsense.
18-24 MONTHS to update after a sale. TOTAL JOKE!
@LostInSW19@mhclg I'm a director of an RMC for a block of 52 flats. Identical leases. Identical flats. Every sale is totally different. Important parts required by the lease are never done correctly. Buyers are required to join the company within 7 days. This NEVER happens.
@LostInSW19@mhclg There's no incentive for anyone except estate agents to speed things up. They spend most of the time asking pointless questions, usually at the last minute. Every time it happens, another 2 week delay. The plan for Home Information Packs scrapped by govt.
@Norn_Iron_Girl@AutisticCallum_ I would counter that there's "normal" healthy curiosity. And there's a level of hyperfixation where we do almost nothing else for 3 days. Stuff we're actually meant to be doing? Eating? Sleeping? Nope. Current fascinating rabbithole locked in!
@DopaminePlsMe Tuesday: Forgot to take it.
Wednesday: Wake up thinking it's Tuesday. Take Tuesday pill. 1 hour later, realise it's actually Wednesday. Forgot I already took it. Take Wednesday pill.
Realise I just double dosed. Gibbering wreck for at least 12 hours. Sleep for 14 hours. Oopsie.
@freeofhold PRS, upheld every complaint we made against our agent, who was highly incompetent and unprofessional. 3yrs missing accounts. No maintenance. Total shambles with remediation. No handover. Said he all our files lost in a 'break-in'. PRS decided all this was fine. Case closed!
@freeofhold There needs to be stronger regulation than now, and a regulator with teeth. It shouldn't be possible for agents to walk off with reserves, not hand over to new agents, or have no training or qualifications whatsoever. Reserves should be held by independent schemes, like deposits.
@NoContextHumans Everyone has to start somewhere. For many, going to the gym is a big step. If their first experience is body shaming and embarrassment, they will leave and never return. If one exercise isn't for you, there's a million others. It just needs a little support and encouragement.
@NocturnalsLuck Surely the ONLY appropriate response from a manager to this is "OMG, I'm so sorry to hear that. Don't even think about work. We'll cover it. Let me know how things go." Not make you feel guilty because they can't cope when one person has to deal with a family emergency.
@HenryPryor Pretty sure this happened to me. My offer was accepted. When I declined the agent's mortgage, it all went quiet. I chased every few days. "We can't get hold of the seller." Went on for weeks. Eventually I saw it sold for ยฃ6k LESS than my offer. No corruption there, then!
@NLC_2019 This isn't even half of it! Louis Burns' book got me started on this when I was trying to understand it all...
To quote Sir Isaac Newton, "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." RIP Louie. Let's end leasehold once and for all. #abolishleasehold
@dino868@scmurphy A few weeks ago, we got a call from a debt collector. Water bill for the block hasn't been paid since 2022. MA stopped paying the bills. Almost ยฃ90,000 we have to magic out of thin air. We're still sorting the mess over 2 years since taking over.
