Now I understand why they don’t like us. For 30 years, we were struggling our economy was in ruins, life expectancy was near zero, and we looked up to our neighbors who seemed far ahead.
Burundi was doing better, and Nairobi or Tanzania felt like another world. But today, we are achieving what they still dream of. We rebuilt, we rose, and now, our success unsettles those who never expected us to thrive.
