@The_Grumbler But we need a coach for the Test team, not a T20 specialist. And although everyone slags it off, after Sheffield Shield, our county game is the next best 4 day tournament in the world. Plenty in English coaches in that
@WG_RumblePants I haven't seen the documentary in question, but being coached by an Aussie from that golden generation just doesn't feel right. Would much prefer Trott
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 Fair enough. I love Scotland, lived up there for 5 years (didn't vote in the ref). I just think a lot of Scots say "England", when they mean Westminster and the SE. Look at HS2. The only people it benefits is commuters from Milton Keynes. North of England benefit at all.
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 Dude, I'm not talking to you if you call English folk living in Scotland "settlers". It's not on. Hope you have a good weekend. Night
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 Happy for Scots and Welsh to not support England. It's expected. But don't understand what you're driving at with the "political responsibility". Eg is your view that Scottish Independence is done for at least a generation (50 years?), because that was the choice of the Scots?
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 I really don't understand. I'm simply trying to explain that England is not some homogeneous lump, and that many of the regions of England have done much worse than Scotland over the last few years, because they lack proper local representation. That's it
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 That just doesn't make any sense. Tell people up in Sunderland or Stockton that they have "all the power" and they'll laugh in your face! Scotland does better than the NE and Yorkshire precisely because it has devolved powers and a regional government that can look out for it
@Indy_Quint@PhilJones33 How is it a dirty trick? It actually means most of England is not well represented. Often when Welsh or Scottish complain about the English, what they really mean is Westminster and the SE. There are many areas of England struggling with lack of investment
@Lapthornsgrave@DPJHodges It's the secret CEEFAX lobby. They've been biding their time, waiting for this opportunity. They're obviously deeply embedded in the "establishment", as well...
“Unfortunately he’d gone feral and we couldn’t re-introduce him into the home. He ended up living with my friend’s parents in Preston.” This is the commentary moment of the World Cup and it will not be beaten. Ever.
Forget about Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.. they’ve been miles off it.. Morgan Gibbs White not being picked is a travesty.
No other English player in the Premier League has scored more goals
He’s one of two English players nominated for PL players of the season.
That decision flies in the face of meritocracy.
He’s worked so hard to reach this level, he’s carried Forest on his back to premier league survival.
A sad day for one of the nicest, most hard-working players you’ll see in the game.
@bellacaledonia I think you mean that the south of England will have 200 miles. Yorkshire is as populous as Scotland. We've been waiting decades for the transpennine to be electrified
