@akinwale_cfi Yoruba language isn’t even the official language in Lagos. It may be the “street” language but certainly not the language used for governance.
@BWLawal Please what is the economic state of that core north that you’re referencing. What has the north achieved in all those years by electing people that speak their language. It is the poorest region and I believe the have the worst numbers in every hdi parameter.
Lol…she said o fe “stop.” These are the people that are shouting language is important. You can’t even type a perfect sentence in Yoruba without infusing English.
@_xolomon@GRVlagos Material and non-material culture. GRV may not be fluent with the language but he dresses like a proper Yoruba man almost every time you see him. So language isn’t just the only way to preserve culture especially in a country where the official language is English.
@_xolomon@GRVlagos I agree with u. But culture is a way of life. It comes naturally. A healthy man breathes, but a dying man gasps for air. What makes a man healthy? Good food, good environment, proper healthcare… everything else would flow naturally. Mind you there are different forms of culture
@_xolomon@GRVlagos Eventually, culture gets forgotten without economic development. Economic growth is what strengthens a people’s culture. Saudi strengthened their economy, now people go annually to partake in their culture. It’s not language that makes culture, it’s the relevance of its people.
@_xolomon@GRVlagos Lol…no wonder someone said suffering inside traffic for hours is part of Lagos lifestyle. Why don’t you use historical value to buy food in the market? Economic development always trumps historical value everyday.
Dear Lagosians, This is my promise to you.
I will never in any language tell you to live in your parents house as an answer to the expensive rents and housing deficit.
Instead we will work tirelessly to deliver a 100,000 units of housing that are not only accessible but truly affordable.
Enact laws that protect tenants and create an agency to investigate and enforce said laws.
I will never in any language tell you that Traffic is a lifestyle.
Instead we will deliver the entire rail network in 2years by opening the project to private sector procurement. Our focus will not be how to pad or steal money it would be on making movement in lagos more effective and affordable.
I will never in any language tell you that we do not know or understand how much waste is being generated in Lagos state, neither will we tell you to go back to you village when you complain about the state of the enviroment .
We will rid the waste management system of the corruption and racketeering that has left lagos covered in filth. We will create a waste to energy and waste to wealth value chain. We will build out proper sewage processing facilities and empower local governments to participate in waste management.
Lastly under no circumstance will any public official boast about expensive watches whilst so many struggle in poverty.
My promise to you is high impact governance, actions you will feel, because Actions speak far louder than words.
#ourlagos.
@PrimalOsha I’m not as primitive as you are. It’s 2026, the global space doesn’t care about Hausa or Yoruba. We can’t even figure out how to dispose our own waste but its language you people are shouting up and down. Majoring on the minor is what led your ancestors into slavery.
@PrimalOsha That’s what you call a rhetorical question.
How does communicating with them in their own language solve the problems facing the state. With all the communication that sanwo olu has been doing in Yoruba, how has it solved the many problems of the state?
@taiwoJuschillin@salawueedris1 Well, it’s English they speak there. That’s because English is the official language in Lagos and there’s nothing you or your likes can do about that. You can preserve your language inside your family house but on the state level the recognized language is English.
@PrimalOsha What language do they speak in Alausa in your Yorubaland? You aren’t even bright enough to understand my analogy using South Africans. Like I said gedifok.
@Osi_Suave But this thing you typed is in English o. And all the other mumus cheering you on are typing in English. But for the sake of politics the official language of the people is Yoruba. But enter Alausa and everyone is speaking English not the so called official language.
@PrimalOsha So collectively, you all watched as they relegated the supposed custodians of your cultures to irrelevance but you want us to believe you love that culture so much? He has never shown disdain for the culture. He only stated facts. His job is to govern!
@PrimalOsha If you’re so proud of your language you will always type in it. A perfect example is the South Africans. You don’t even rate your language enough to project it you bloody hypocrite. Mumu, you sef don’t undertand the duties of your obas. Gedifok
@PrimalOsha Lol…you’re still making the same point I made in my first post. The obas can liaise with the ministry of culture to help preserve the culture or language. The job of the governor is to govern not preserve language or culture. Hence, it’s a stupid question to ask.
