@bbforpeace is proud to announce the formalisation of our strategic partnership with the @PEPNET through the signing of a 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗠𝗼𝗨).

Although both BBFORPEACE and PEPNET have been collaborating since 2018, this milestone marks the beginning of a more structured and intentional partnership dedicated to advancing peace education, youth leadership, research, capacity building, policy advocacy, and collaborative programme development.

The meeting was more than the signing of a document, it was a celebration of a shared vision, mutual trust, and a collective commitment to building peaceful, resilient communities across Nigeria and beyond. Thoughtful discussions, reflections on partnership, and a shared resolve to translate agreements into meaningful action made the occasion truly memorable.

As we embark on this new chapter, we remain committed to transforming this partnership into impactful programmes, stronger coalitions, and sustainable solutions that promote peace, dialogue, and inclusive development.

Together, we are building stronger foundations for peace, one partnership at a time.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the leadership and team of PEPNET for their collaboration and look forward to the impactful journey ahead.

On 31 July 2026, @bbforpeace team was honored to participate in the graduation ceremony of the inaugural cohort of the @ominyainitiativ Peacebuilders Leadership Internship (PLI 1.0), a remarkable milestone in raising young leaders who are equipped to promote peace through knowledge, action, and service.

The journey of these Peace Champions is a powerful reminder that peacebuilding extends beyond the classroom. From engaging learning sessions to impactful community outreach, the graduates demonstrated that lasting change begins when learning is translated into meaningful action.

At BBFORPEACE, we remain committed to nurturing young leaders, strengthening partnerships, and creating opportunities that empower individuals to become agents of positive change.

Before the peace agreements. Before the negotiations. Before the headlines. There are women!

Women who calm tensions within families, support survivors of violence, mobilise relief for vulnerable households, mentor young people, and keep communities functioning during times of uncertainty.

Yet, much of this work remains unseen, undocumented, and undervalued.

The Women, Peace and Security Agenda reminds us that peacebuilding is not only what happens in conference halls or policy meetings. It is also the daily work of resilience, healing, dialogue, and community care.

𝗚𝗘𝗡 𝗭 𝗨𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚: 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛, 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗖𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔

This paper examines the surge of nationally coordinated, youth-led mass protests across Africa between 2023 and 2025.

Driven by Generation Z and younger millennials, these movements emerged in response to acute economic hardship, systemic corruption, and unresponsive governance.

The study provides a comparative analysis of twelve major national protest movements, highlighting how tech-savvy youths leveraged digital mobilization—via social media and encrypted apps—to bypass traditional political structures and state repression.

Key findings reveal that while some movements achieved tactical victories, such as policy reversals or the ousting of leaders, they also faced severe state crackdowns, including lethal force, internet blackouts, and the shrinking of civic space.

Good policies are not enough. We must also measure whether they are working.

During the National Conference on Youth, Peace and Security in Nigeria organised by @bbforpeace in partnership with @fmydNG, @IpcrNigeria, and supported by @ng_youthfund, participants emphasised the need for stronger accountability, monitoring, and feedback mechanisms within Youth, Peace and Security frameworks.

Young people need channels to provide feedback on policies that affect their lives. Governments and stakeholders need systems to track progress, identify challenges, and adapt interventions where necessary.

Accountability builds trust. Feedback improves outcomes. Together, they ensure that policies move beyond promises and deliver meaningful impact.

A responsive system is one that listens, learns, and improves.

The @bbforpeace 2026-2030 Strategic Plan was developed through an inclusive, evidence-led, and institutionally owned process designed to ensure relevance, credibility, and practical use.

The process combined internal reflections, stakeholder consultations, institutional assessment, and review of relevant policy and organisational documents. It ensured that the Strategy was informed both by BBFORPEACE’s lived experience and by the wider peacebuilding and governance environment in which it operates.

It reflects both BBFORPEACE's experience and its ambition to grow as a youth-led, women-centred, community-rooted, and policy-engaged peacebuilding institution with national depth in Nigeria and growing regional relevance in West Africa.

This strategic plan sets out the direction of @bbforpeace for the period 2026-2030. It defines our priorities, strategic choices, implementation approach, and institutional commitments for the next five years.

It also deepens our impacts in Nigeria while building a credible, partnership-based regional role in West Africa.
