Third: we saw in George’s case with the medical examiner giving the bogus report, often black people are not able to afford independent examiners for forensic evidence or autopsies. Now whatever the states’ witnesses and experts say. This too creates unfair unjust outcome.

In criminal cases where the defendant is asserting officers force was excessive and the arrest was illegal, the officers need only show that they had a good faith basis which again is based on a reasonable police officer standard, for their conduct. This statute must CHANGE!

Step 1: Qualified immunity is a great restraint on prosecuting use of excessive force cases. Police officers should not be given this immunity when evidence shows excessive force!
