every post on the “for you” tab is a video captioned like “soap can be used for washing dishes” and the replies are 30 AI accounts going “that moment when you put the soap on the dishes 😂”
today I've seen:
1) a post about how an LLM finally "understood" the poster's idea no one else understood
2) a post in which incoherent output from the LLM represented obscured, information-rich communication that must be decoded
people are confused on “taste” because, in the current content-maximizing environment, it means curation rather than creation. from that vantage point, taste will always be brittle and fleeting.
I guess what I'm saying is that if you base your idea of taste on the ability to curate (rather than making something from your own internal drive) you'll always be catching up

and interestingly, the thing that has sparked all this conversation about taste is built from (and for) that vantage point, creating a self reinforcing cycle.
