The vast majority of creators don't need a manager. I don't think that the vast majority of creators need a team at all.

I think that you need to be the cake and the manager is the icing. If you're not a great cake, don't bother putting icing on top of it.

Be the baked cake first.

I have founded the management company behind The Sidemen.

And they were an amazing cake before we started working together. They actually were the best cake in the business.

Seven years of work and content every single week. They already had an audience of 10 million people when we started working with them. So from that, we could be the icing and we could build something together.

I think creators out there need an agent first.

An agent is transactional. They're about brand deals, about making you short-term money.

A manager is about building your business with you and helping you to strategically scale your career.

The agent helps you when you're puffing up, when you're rising. An agent can help you get brand deals but that will be their limit.

I can't stress this enough.

Don't be chasing managers and expecting them to transform your career.

Nowadays, you have to build your own audience, create your own direct-to-consumer relationship, create your own leverage and know how to communicate on social first.

If you can do that and build some scale, then a manager comes in and becomes the icing on top.
