If the provinces are the problem, and they are, why only restrict it at the federal level? The plan at Confederation, and for decades after, was that the federal government would prevent provincial governments from abusing rights, using the disallowance power. Eventually that role was taken over by the courts, and the Charter. But if the Charter is fast becoming a dead letter, via the notwithstanding clause, then Canada would be left, for the first time in our history, with no effective protection for rights. That is, we will, unless the feds act.
The feds have the power to protect our rights. They should use it.

How Canadian taxes work:
(Avg after tax income across all provinces)

If you make $65,000, your after tax income is $52,787.1
A household with 2 $30,000 incomes will take $26,986 each. The will make combined $5k less but will take home $1,185 more. They can actually get more benefits as well so their take home could be much greater.

If you make $250,000, your after tax income is $160,285.
A household with 2 $108,000 incomes will take $81,284 each. They will make $34k combined less but will take home $2,283 more.

If you make $1,000,000, your after tax income is $521,560. The government takes almost 50% of your income. In Nova Scotia your take home would be less than half of what you earn - $498,437. Basically working for the government first.

@MarkJCarney When will we see this "prosperity"? 3, 5, 15 years? Or maybe 3, 5, or 15 generations. Sir, there has been much hullabaloo with travel, hand shakes, MOEs, photo ops, but the needle is not moving with any improvements nor campaign promises in Canada. "Elbows Up" has been buried.

@MarkJCarney I certainly hope that this is not just the beginning! Grocery prices are up. Housing starts are down. US Tariffs are still in effect. Unemployment numbers (actual numbers, not made up numbers) are up. Crime is up. I'm not sure how much more of this we can take!
