Yes, the government has vastly left our labour market unregulated. Farmers are unfairly competing with imports; farming is one of the critical backbones of any economy. While farming isn’t a pathway to become a billionaire it should unequivocally be enough to sustain you in the economy your serving. Our labour market is so disorganised, we have an over production of nurses and teachers. Yet an underproduction of agriculture. The bilateral technology deals to solve this exist in the world and are there more intentional collaboration with Brazil and Netherlands could make these farmers more efficient and profitable. Yet the money that should be spent on that technology deal to improve human capital in farming is spent on imports. Better yet those imports are poorly tracked and are a large part of our informal market. Meaning it’s goes untaxed, meani no for Ghana we end up with a lot of what we know is dead capital. Where is that dead capital? Predominately outside of Ghana, benefiting others. Ghana has underserved and neglected this sector not just in terms of technology but failed to organise it intelligently. So these farmers are competing with a converging region; that exploits Ghana’s inability to invest in our farmers.
🇬🇭 A confrontation reportedly broke out at Madina after a Nigerian man was stopped by a community police officer and instructed to use the pedestrian overpass instead of crossing the road directly.
The situation allegedly escalated during the exchange, with the officer reportedly being headbutted, leaving bystanders shocked.
@amackieee Classism is the biggest issue on this continent. And diasporas who come back and join in on the classism are the worst. Especially because most of their parents would not even be respected if they never obtained a visa. Yet many come back and ignore the people, to go party.
The Peasant Farmers Association of Ghana is calling for immediate government intervention to protect local producers.
The association is demanding a six-month ban on rice imports, arguing it is necessary to clear out mounting local stocks and support Ghanaian farmers.

@NanaAbrefaBusia If Ghana actually played to its strengths. We’d dominate this region. It wouldn’t even be close. Nigeria’s size isn’t strength. Ghana could actually organise its institutions a lot easier, plus our literacy rate. But we choose to regionally converge at our disadvantage.
The idea of proud African State Nationalism has been damaged; and its one countries fault. Because they handled it like illiterates. People will now stigmatise a noble cause. We need a legitimate and pragmatic alternative to Pan-Africanism. How we get there now, is the tough part
So sad Ghanaians don’t see a big cause of a lot of our problems; is ‘brotherhood’ convergence. How to educate Ghanaians to stop saying these unhelpful tropes is a challenge that requires so much backing I sometimes feel it’s hopeless.
Like I’ve said show me your friends I’ll show you who you are
This is why I preach against Ghana trying to make one tribes language the Lingua Franca. Or trying to propagate a tribal culture over others. It ALWAYS starts off so called ‘harmless’. Until it descends into something oppressive.
Study European tribes in the dark and Middle Ages. Where did they all go? Many times due to ideas and talking like ‘majority’ ‘lingua Franca’ which many times led to conflict or marginalisation.
24-Hour economy is contingent on having 24 hour power. How can anybody get work done if the power keeps cutting. A stigma of working from Ghana, to the west is our Internet speed and power reliability. You can’t keep proving the west right if you want to change our image! Sick of this dumsor, petrol ain’t cheap can’t be paying electricity and generator fuel.
@EricFordjour17 Since Ablakwa has been more visible. I’ve noticed Muntaka has tried to increase his PR. Like you said if you’re not PR your solutions then you’re not doing your job.
You’re bleeding. You know the cause of the bleeding. But you keep telling the cause of bleeding they are your brother. I’ll say it now if it wasn’t for a certain country. Ghana’s passport would be up at least another 10-15 places.
🇬🇭🇳🇬 BREAKING:
Ghana’s Interior Minister Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka has warned against the illegal acquisition of Ghanaian identity documents by foreign nationals, following reports that three Nigerians deported from Saudi Arabia presented Ghanaian passports upon arrival in Abuja.
I don’t like to play parties because I belong to none. But he sounds a lot more competent than the ‘other guy’. I’ll be honest if we’re judging on merit and not popularity. He’s clearly had some media training on how to talk in front of the camera though.
🚨 Ghana 🇬🇭 and South Korea 🇰🇷 have outlined plans to deepen cooperation.
This year, the two countries will open a new university in Ghana, establish a West Africa Hyundai automotive manufacturing plant and launch new solar irrigation systems.
