🇦🇺 Australians deserve answers from Immigration Minister Tony Burke

As MP for Watson, an electorate with one of the highest & fastest-growing Muslim populations in the country (25%) serious questions must be asked: is there a conflict of interest when ministerial decisions on immigration, repatriation of ISIS brides, & humanitarian visas from high-risk regions appear to prioritise the interests of his local voting bloc over the broader national interest?

The Australian people are overwhelmingly calling for a pause or significant reduction in immigration levels, rigorous vetting, & a focus on migrants who will contribute rather than place a perpetual burden on taxpayers. Yet we continue to see large intakes from parts of the world where cultural values sharply diverge from ours & security risks remain elevated.

Labor seems blind to the lessons unfolding in the UK, where decades of similar policies have led to communities that increasingly vote along religious & ethnic lines, and in some cases, individuals with extremist histories seeking public office.

We cannot allow short-term electoral calculations to compromise long-term national cohesion & security.

Time for transparency & accountability, Minister.
