@theiaincameron My walk in from Loch Morlich a few days earlier was one of the hardest walks I have done given the difficult ground from Lairig Gru into the Corrie. The return journey the following day was even more difficult given the record 25c record temperatures the area was experiencing.
It may be into August now, but that won’t stop Colin Hutt from skiing in Scotland. At Aonach Beag, currently one of only a handful of hills holding snow, a 70 metre long patch provides the piste.
A magical weekend… taking a group of women to @SkiddawHouseYHA for yoga and walking ✨🌕
A weekend of sharing… sharing stories, meals, movement and time in the fells.
It was so beautiful 🌙 can’t wait for the next retreat in June… let me know if you’re interested 🙏🏼
Good to spend time in @lakedistrictnpa over New Year, including staying in @YHAHawkshead & @YHAKeswick, and visiting @YHA_Lakes hostels and teams. Great to catch up over a walk and talk with @LakesChief, including visiting Sue - manager of iconic @SkiddawHouseYHA
With the complete melting of the Sphinx, I went today to Aonach Beag to see if any snow remained below the north-east face. Luckily, the trip was a fruitful one. The very last piece of snow in Scotland, barely 10 metres long. It is not long for this world.
Days 3+4: Elterwater to Back O’Skiddaw
Through the Langdale Valley, up and over the spectacular Stake Pass, along the never ending Langstrath Valley, along Derwentwater to Keswick, then another climb up to the incredible @SkiddawHouseYHA - an absolute gem hidden up at 470m! ✨
Helvellyn, Catstye Cam & the Edges from Birkhouse Moor showing the scarcity of snow. However, the snow that remains on Helvellyn's east face was hard & icy. Jon
The unavoidable snow at the top of Striding Edge was rock hard & icy today. Striding Edge continues to hold less snow compared with Swirral Edge. The crest of Striding Edge was mostly dry rock although 3 points of contact were required owing to the strong & gusty wind! Jon
Terry Davis - who has been cared for by our palliative care team - had a special guest to his front garden, after physiotherapist Debra Alton arranged for her horse Mr Riley to visit.
Our outstanding staff going above and beyond yet again for patients.

The notorious exit on #swirraledge Steep hard icy snow above a long & rocky drop. You need the tools & skills to stop a simple slip or trip becoming a long & painful tumbling fall #crampons#iceaxe#summitsafely#beadventuresmart Zac
Hard icy snow on popular paths inc the #Helvellyn edges where it has been compressed by walkers feet. It's only short but crampons & iceaxe essential for the unavoidable steep icy snow patch on #SwirralEdge exit #summitsafely#beadventuresmart Zac
Giving nurses the pay increase they're calling for would cost around £1.8 billion per year.
Scrapping the non-dom tax avoidance scheme used by the super-rich would raise much more - around £3.2 billion per year.
The Tory refusal to pay nurses properly is a political choice.
@DPDgroup_news Just spoke to customer service, based in South Africa. Informed me that DPD have been unable to cope with Black Friday demand and have huge backlog of parcels. Many of these cannot be identified as they have not been scanned for 24 hours. Our 2 parcels are missing!
We stayed @SkiddawHouseYHA this week. What a place! Surrounded by beautiful fells, walking in is part of the adventure. So exciting to crest a hill & see it surrounded by trees in the distance. A warm welcome from Sue & her pup, some grub & log burners. Amazing! Check that view!
@BenGoldsmith In history “Forest” meant “hunting area” and not a woodland. The trees around Skiddaw House appear to have been planted with non-native trees to provide shelter and fire wood for Skiddaw House and were not part of a wider forest. @SkiddawHouseYHA
