For a long time, my Christian life felt like a performance.

I believed in grace—but I lived like it was still up to me.
Always trying harder. Always wondering if I was doing enough.
Hoping that maybe, just maybe, God was pleased.

But then I discovered the wonder of union with Christ.

Not just that I follow Jesus—but that I’m in Him.
That His life is now my life.
That I’m not working for God’s approval—I’m living from His approval.

Union with Christ means I’ve died with Him.
I’ve been raised with Him.
And now I share in His righteousness, His power, His mission, even His joy.

It’s no longer about performing for Him—
It’s about participating in Him.
His love. His ministry. His fellowship with the Father.

That truth has changed everything for me.

I’m not trying to get closer to God. I'm already closer than I can fathom.
I’ve been united with Him—forever.

@AJWTheology @pjgurry That's been quite differently understood in our movement as eldership is most commonly equated with leadership.

@AJWTheology @pjgurry Elders then have a variety of gifts that they bring to that responsibility, "able to teach" as the required one, but leadership, administration, etc. as not necessary.
