"Why can't we use the old system?"
The main difference is topology. We're using dedicated servers in modern titles which provide clear benefits (security, average ping, better tic rates) than listen servers which make your machine not only run the game but host the server too. This is why we use a new system which is inspired by older titles to place connection quality as a top priority. The goals are the same. Fast to obtain, fun matches where players stick around until the end.
"Also during the Beta, will changes be made for matchmaking based off external and internal feedback?"
Of course. Feedback and player data shape how we adjust matchmaking.
