It's apparent to me that if I really want a future in baseball, then I have to learn how to code. I used pandas (boolean filtering, groupby) for filtering and aggregation and matplotlib for data visualization.

One thing I didn't expect while building it is there were two mistagged sliders that were tagged as fastballs. I was able to identify and modify the values and change them to 'Slider'. I feel this was a good exercise for me and challenged me to resolve the issue

The biggest takeaway for me:

Don't confuse a lower batting average with weak contact.

Benge has some clear areas to attack, but his ability to damage the ball outside those areas makes location extremely important.

I put together an advance scouting report on Carson Benge.

I looked at his damage zones, quality of contact, pitch-type performance, plate discipline, and defensive tendencies to develop a plan of attack.

Here are some of the biggest takeaways 🧵

Defensively:

vs. RHP: Straight up

vs. LHP: INF straight up, OF shades toward RF

Benge is also a plus runner at 28.6 ft/sec and has a 96 mph outfield arm (98th percentile).

His speed and arm strength both need to be accounted for.
