@Porrikovv @loudmouthjo @suciodan2099 @DepecheDoh @haltman I want you to know I’m not anti-Russian at all. It’s the regime I’ve got a problem with. I think Russian people have shown incredible bravery by protesting the war at home. In the face of Putin’s government, that takes huge courage.

However, I don’t think anyone can demonstrate a logical and reasonable line of thinking behind what Putin is doing now. He’s acting like a thuggish madman with a total disregard to human life. If we did help create the monster, we now owe it to Ukraine to help.

@Porrikovv @suciodan2099 @loudmouthjo @DepecheDoh @haltman Well, they gave guns to like 1000 Cuban exiles and said “go for it”. And they were all immediately captured or killed. Russia invaded with an army of 200,000 and is about to flatten Kyiv with carpet bombs and chemical weapons… it’s not really the same thing, is it?

I know America are guilty of a lot and so are we in the UK (I’m Scottish myself) but perspective is important, that’s all…

@BeggerTcs @DepecheDoh @greatanger @suciodan2099 @loudmouthjo @haltman I actually think we would agree on most things (especially about healthcare in Finland and the USA) but I’m just worried that a lot of people are using the “well, the west are just as bad” argument to dismiss this whole situation. While dismissing what Ukraine actually wants.

Trying to frame the 2014 revolution of dignity in Ukraine as a fascist coup that was masterminded by the USA is just fundementally wrong on so many levels. Sorry. I think you should speak to some actual Ukrainians for a reality check.

That’s pretty insulting to friends in Kyiv who fought like bloody hell in the Maidan in 2014. They have a right to self determination and they earned it the hard way. Is that a problem to you?

@suciodan2099 @loudmouthjo @DepecheDoh @haltman Aside from the separatist conflict in the east, the vast majority of Ukraine has been entirely peaceful. Also, the main difference here is that Ukraine is a functioning, free democratic nation with a legally elected leader. That does make it different from conflicts like Iraq etc
