One Sikh man committed a murder.
535,000 British Sikhs did not.
They served in our armies.
They built our cities. They fed our homeless.
They sheltered our children after Manchester.
Know your allies. Don’t let hatred win.

@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte Yes, a meme that distorts the facts. I know of no crime that has been committed by a Sikh using a ceremonial dagger carried for religious reasons. Usual confusion of Americans mixing Sikhs with islamists.
@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte I haven’t denied that at any stage of this conversation. But the USA has an incarceration rate of greater that 3.5 times that of the UK, so maybe put your own house in order first?
@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte Hasn’t happened in the UK. And we have a robust legal system that has protected us against the extremes of government. But look at the problems excessive gun ownership causes in your own country.
@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte I’ve been checking the facts. The killer was a British citizen, not a refugee. It is the far right who associate anyone not like them to ‘refugees’ in order to further dehumanise a sub-set of humanity. He was carrying the ceremonial dagger but used a larger knife to murder.
Today, in a historic ceremony at Windsor Castle, His Majesty The King presented the Royal Marines with new Colours – the banners and insignia steeped in the history and traditions of the Corps.

@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte There are restrictions on the type of knives that can be carried within the UK, not just by British Citizens. The purpose of this was to reduce knife crime. Similarly handguns were restricted after a school massacre in 1996. Our kids don’t have shooter drills.
@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte Absolutely false reports. The only religion permitted to do this are Sikhs, who are allowed to carry a ceremonial dagger. Sikhs serving in the British armed forces are also allowed to wear a turban.
@Guy_JustaGuy3@sygarte Nothing about this one case looks good. But avoid tunnel vision and look at the wider stats. And that’s an unlikely purchase for this gospel preacher 😀.
@CliveWardauthor My Great Uncle died on his 21st birthday on HMS Defence at Jutland and is remembered on on Plymouth Hoe's War Memorial . My son played Last Post at the Centenary service held at St Magnus Cathedral, and in 2024 led the Plymouth Remembrance Day parade, by that same War Memorial.
