I asked a simple question that changed my perspective on life
My daughter is almost 9 months old. Sometimes I can’t help but imagine what she will be like in 1, 2, 5, and 10 years from now. It’s unbelievable to think that she will be unrecognizable. She will become fluent in a language. She will learn everything. It’s kind of hard to comprehend the things she will have to take in. She will learn about the world, about basic math, history, social skills, sports and rules, games, her likes and dislikes. The list is endless. Infinite.
The simple question I asked:
Is there any chance I can progress as much in the next 7 years as she can?
It’s a ridiculous concept. Making as much progress as a human who is gaining consciousness. The growth capacity is so much higher for her. Or is it?
I can learn a new language in 7 years. I definitely can learn new topics, expand my likes and dislikes, work on social skills. The list is infinite for me too. So why couldn’t I?
Everyone looks at kids with such amazement (deservedly so). In doing so, we forget to think that we can completely change the trajectory of our lives in that time if we wanted too.
We actually should have an advantage in this case. We have a base layer of knowledge. Kids are working from a blank slate which makes the progress more apparent. For adults, we can use knowledge we have to build skills far beyond what we think possible.
I could go back to school and become a doctor in 7 years. I could become an expert bowler. I could learn Spanish. I could write multiple books. Kids can’t do any of that! Give me 7 years and I’ll dominate every kid in bowling.
Basically, I am going to improve over the next 7 years like a child. The plan is to approach new topics with curiosity. Instead of thinking I know something, the goal is to assume I no nothing and extract every piece of information possible. I will ask the questions nobody else asks.
I will be unrecognizable in 7 years.
I don't use anything that's "peptide-small molecule" on a absolute basis
My daily essential is
-magnesium
That's the only supplement I will travel with and dedicated in taking daily no matter what
Then it's a list of things I take with near perfect regularity
And then things I experiment with
Look for it. You will find it
If you think someone is mad at you, you will notice all of these little subtleties in their face. The way they react to what you do. The way they say certain things. The way they move.
You’re looking for something to validate your own feelings.
Stop looking for some enormous revelation to come beat you over the head. You’re making it too hard. You’re only looking for some crazy sign.
Look for anything good. Anything kinda cool.
And all you’ll see is good and cool shit.
It really isn’t so difficult.
Instead, you are stressed. You wake up and think bad things. You think that life is gonna throw you some more garbage today. So your vision is clouded. You put on the poop colored lenses and now that’s all you see.
Why don’t you start the day being happy you woke up? Another day to eat a piece of fruit. Another day to smell fresh air. Another day to get some road rage and blast music in the car. It’s all fun. It’s all funny.
IF you let it be. You have to give it permission.
You could do all the same things but instead,
You sleep like shit. The fruit you had was rotten. The air is humid and it stinks. That guy who cut you off has been the only thing on your mind.
I can say it all
You have to move fast. Take it easy.
Intensity is key. Consistency is key.
Work smarter. Work harder.
I can say it any which way I want. It all works. It’s not about the words. It’s not even about the idea.
It’s about the person that is receiving it. It’s about where they are in their life. What they feel and what they hear from the words on the screen.
Why waste your time trying to draw such a fine line in the sand? Whatever thing you decide to be so firm on, someone who you admire in some capacity will be on the other side.
Every single piece of writing there is is a journal. Every book is a journal. It includes opinion, perspective. The thoughts came from somewhere. Journaling is writing.
You only enjoy things when other people enjoy them. You focus so much on everyone else around you and forget about yourself.
You have sex and only enjoy when your partner enjoys. You make jokes and only feel validated when you hear a laugh.
You forget completely about doing things for yourself and stare at the faces of the crowd as you vie for their approval.
You must realize that this whole life is about you. You must be selfish. Because when you are gone, it’s all gone.
It might as well be. You don’t even know. For all of the people who have ever died, they have no clue that the Earth is still moving along. And they don’t care. It meant nothing to them before they were alive and it means nothing to them after.
Selfish is not about breaking the laws. It’s not about losing all care for the individual around us. It is about acting in accordance with ourselves. Say what makes you laugh and preach what inspires you. Not because it’s what people want to hear but because it’s what you want to say.
Be there for yourself. Your happiness and your fulfillment directly drives the mood and atmosphere around you. Debbie Downers see negativity and sadness. Golden Retrievers see a lot of smiles and get their heads rubbed.
There's something about the idea of spending and giving to get the flow of energy around you started. You create a vacuum around yourself for energy to flow through.
