I thought the backlash was juvenile, especially the identity-based critic of how OBAA depicted black women. Do people just want saintly images that confirm their worldview? I thought it was masterful how PTA made the characters both awful and sympathetic. Real cinema.
Now that everyone has calmed down, whilst I understand the OBAA backlash, I still think ultimately art is not meant to portray people or realities as perfect, Colonel Lockjaw was a villain and was going to do villainous things.
