To deregister a major opposition party on factually incorrect grounds just months before an election is state-sanctioned violence against democratic pluralism.
Of course, I am happy that the Strait of Hormuz will soon be open. That's a good outcome for the entire global economy.
But the Strait was opened before the war. We did not need a war to keep it open.
One of the most incredible aspects of the World Cup in the United States is what we DIDN’T have to do to prepare for it.
Qatar built multiple brand new stadiums, a metro system, roads, hotels, and entire districts.
South Africa built new stadiums, parking, etc.
Brazil spent billions on stadium and transit projects.
Russia built and rebuilt venues across the country.
Meanwhile, the U.S. was like: “We’re good.”
Like, we modified the playing surface in some stadiums and that was it.
The sport venue infrastructure in the US mogs every other country on earth and it’s not even close.
Major cheat code for life: Leave people better than you found them. A kind word. A thoughtful question. A small encouragement. A little more belief than they had before. You never know which sentence becomes the one someone carries for years.
Little by little, our thinking are shifting and we will start backing prayers with decisive, selfless action.
After all, Q13:11 says Allah will never change the state of a people until they change what is within themselves.
In our mosque earlier today, the imam said that we should pray for Nigeria, that only prayers can salvage this nation.
One person at the last row stood up & said “the Saudi that we go for hajj & enjoy basic amenities there, they didn’t achieve that by prayers. They achieve that by competent leadership.”
😊😊😊
You have to be extremely self aware for this as a man. You have to have the ability to sit with very uncomfortable truths about your parents, esp your father as a man, a husband & a parent. This is a very uncomfortable & disturbing process, given most men are avoidants!
Never read the books. So this scene and the Red Wedding took me aback . Had no clue who the main protagonist was anymore, and that was part of the magic of GOT for me.
S6E10 "The Winds of Winter" was when it finally clicked who the lead was.
At this moment, I was 100% sure someone would save him. He's the main character... he can't die. Then the scene happened - and I realised I wasn't watching a normal show....
It messes with my head whenever a top government official says something like this and still doesn’t get the sack.
It denotes that enough is not being done and a lot of critical work needing the utmost coordination is being left to chance.
We deserve better than these clowns.
After a certain age, your parents slowly become your children. They ask simple questions, repeat stories, and depend on your patience the way you once depended on theirs. Very few understand this role reversal. What looks like innocence or inconvenience is really time coming full circle. Don't correct them harshly. Don't rush them. Care for them the way they once protected you. This is not a burden. It is repayment.
Things that don't mix.
1. Water & oil
2. Water and electricity
3. Me and Nonsense.
4. Me and Competition.
5. Me and Disrespect
6. Me and Ungrateful people.
In 1966, All African counties boycotted the World Cup to protest apartheid and how black South Africans were marginalized
In 2026, All African countries supported Mexico against South Africa in protest against their xenophobia
Live long enough
You should have things you don't do, places you don't go to, substances you don't take, words you don't say
By all means, have Principles and Standards.
The same parents who travel long distances to help/ grieve/ celebrate their friends?
The ones greeting almost everyone from church to the market? They model alot about community and friendship. Alot of us think we're too good for mundane things.
Let's be serious please.
They really took road trips away from us in Nigeria, as a child i enjoyed road trips to the east, they were fun and i looked forward to it and this government stole that from us.
