It's amazing that Trump can trash Meghan McCain's dad for years but all it takes to win her over is a war on Iran. Truly her father's daughter. He'd be genuinely proud.
You think that if at Pearl Harbor, the Japanese had bombed a girls' school, killing 175, almost all little children, that that would have then been a big part of the story of that "Day of Infamy," and that we'd still remember and talk about that part of it 85 years later?
This is becoming a Trump signature move - the same modus operandi he used with Iran, now deployed against Hamas: pretending he wanted to engage in diplomacy as a trap to facilitate bombing them.
Which reinforces the precedent: engaging in diplomacy with the US is now worse than useless, it's fatal.
Which is a precedent that's bad for everyone, the US first and foremost. Not exactly in its interests to teach the lesson: "never negotiate with America"...
Even in medieval Europe, in the darkest days of the so-called "Dark Ages", rulers were honor-bound not to violate diplomatic immunity. And common-sense bound too, as they understood it wasn't in their interests to be known as oath-breakers.
Heck even the Mongols, not exactly known as sentimental humanitarians, understood that killing envoys was idiotic.
When the US is failing a moral test that the Mongol Empire passed, it's time to ask ourselves a few questions...
If you are in even the tiniest position of power to do anything about this and you try, you’ll never regret it even if it costs you personally and professionally. If you don’t you will live with the shame the rest of your life. This is one of those moments.
If nothing else it's a helpful distillation of priorities that the one "genocide" the Admin is eager to take aggressive action on is South African White Farmers (approx. 50 homicides per year) whereas the annihilation of Gaza (100s killed in just the past week) may proceed apace
Is Harris really ‘the lesser of the two evils’ to the equally repulsive Trump? Genocide must come with a political price. DO NOT VOTE HARRIS.
