We have made great strides in our state-building process, from lifting the arms embargo to reaching the HIPC milestone of debt relief and increasing our budget to $1 billion. We have also made progress in tracking climate change, as we were present very strongly at the #COP28, which is in the final stage, where we achieved several achievements in our efforts to reduce the loss and damage of the climate crisis, including the throughs, floods, and desertifications. As part of our ongoing diplomatic engagements in Geneva 🇨🇭, we held a series of productive meetings with ambassadors from friendly nations in support of Somalia’s campaign to regain its independent management of national human rights responsibilities — a mandate our nation has been without for over three decades.

I had the honor of meeting with:

These consultations reflected the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing Somalia’s position in global human rights governance.

As we approach the upcoming vote on Wednesday, October 8, we remain optimistic, God willing, that Somalia will achieve a historic step toward restoring full national ownership of its human rights mandate. 🇸🇴
