My sister Hon Miria Matembe, your deep sense of justice and heartfelt solidarity with @kizzabesigye1 in this dark time move me deeply.
Your courage in speaking out gives us strength and hope. We hold on to the belief that KB will endure this torment and walk free again.
Just when you thought NTV Uganda had delivered its sharpest satirical blow against CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba during its Luganda bulletin, Akawungeezi, wait until you see what it did to Kasambya County MP Daudi Kabanda.
Kabanda has become one of the most talked-about political figures in recent years. His rise through Uganda's political ranks has seen him rubbing shoulders with some of the most powerful figures in the country. At one point, he even served as Secretary General of Muhoozi Kainerugaba's Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) before being replaced.
To the casual observer, such a meteoric rise might suggest exceptional brilliance, extraordinary qualifications, or unmatched political talent.
But NTV's satirical take appears to ask a different question.
Without directly saying it, the report seems to invite viewers to consider whether merit, education, competence, and hard work are really the factors that determine who rises to prominence in Uganda's political system. Through humor, irony, and subtle mockery, the satire paints a picture of a political culture where loyalty, positioning, and opportunism can sometimes matter more than ability.
Of course, NTV never explicitly calls Kabanda an opportunist. That is left for viewers to decide. Yet reading between the lines, the message appears difficult to miss.
The real target of the satire may not even be Daudi Kabanda himself, but rather a political system that rewards certain behaviors and elevates certain individuals while leaving many qualified Ugandans wondering what truly counts in the race for power.
In this commentary, I examine NTV's satirical takedown of Daudi Kabanda, the deeper message hidden beneath the jokes, and what it reveals about politics, patronage, and power in Uganda today.

Some Historical members of NRA/NRM who have always had political issues with their boss President Museveni (some with silent ambitions to replace him), but fear to face him head on because of protecting their bread, prefer to turn General Muhoozi Kainerugaba into a perpetual punching bag as a way of hitting at the president indirectly. By doing so, they unknowingly provoked a revolution and made Gen MK a real factor (ensonga).
Otafire has been the leader of this clique and he has provoked our Generation enough. A serving Minister cannot utter such nonsense and Mzee thinks we shall just be happy about it and keep quiet. Why doesn’t Otafiire resign his cabinet position if he thinks the Government of President Museveni that he serves kills people? Pure hypocrisy & cheap blackmail!
When Gen MK chose to get out and push back against these serial coordinated attacks & schemes against him, they started screaming! We shall not accept this!

on Thursday 30th, April, we held our Q1 offsite meeting at Nagalaale Country House, Mukono, where we took time to reflect on our performance, assess our impact, and have honest conversations about where we are and where we are going.
These moments of pause are critical, not just to evaluate results, but to refine strategy, strengthen collaboration, and recommit to the values that define who we are as a firm.
