HMS Thrasher could not dive after two bombs lodged in her casing.

Lt Peter Roberts and PO Thomas Gould worked together to remove them, saving everyone on board.

Both were awarded the Victoria Cross.

Washington Naval Treaty signed, limiting battleship numbers, tonnage, gun size & introduced a ten year pause on construction. Britain’s alliance with Japan ended & global naval power was reshaped.

Our #NewAccession is a digital copy of a map of Middle Peak & Stoneycroft quarries, produced when Stanton Ironworks Lt took 50% ownership from Bowne & Shaw Ltd in the 1920s. The Wirksworth firm traded in ironstone & limestone. The original plan is thought to have been destroyed.
