Making Christians and leaving them is like recruiting one to the military, giving them a cantina and weapon and saying, “Go fight the good fight, don’t worry about training, follow your intuition.” New Christian’s should have a Christian mentor who can help them grew in their spiritual walk so that they may grow strong, efficiently, and become knowledgeable so that they might also go and make and disciple others. For Christians who are interested in learning how to make disciples and the importance of discipleship, Robert Gallaty has a great pod cast on this very topic.

Using the scripture as the main foundation for what we believe so that we can communicate what we believe with why we believe it. Does scripture have to be known or read to be a Christian? No. Before the written gospel there were Christians, and the Spirit will guide them to truths they need to know. The scriptures are extremely helpful for recognizing false teachings, spiritual warfare, and spiritual growth and reflection, but if one doesn’t have access to the scriptures, the can pray and seek God in all things who will lead them to the path He has set before them.

That’s awesome! Your brother seems like a cool guy! I don’t see too many people posting historical or Gaelic things. I like lore and history in general, but one of my best friends is passionate about Gaelic history. He and I were talking when I saw your response and we began talking to about Finn McCool and the Giants Causeway 😂. Just as he loves Gaelic history, I love studying apologetics. I might have to start following your brother on X. If he’s studying theology and posts on it, definitely enjoy it.😁

It’s sad and disheartening you had such an experience within a Christian space.

I think many Christians, when they become Christians, treat it as eternal insurance never understanding the policy and contract. The thought is, “I’m covered and no one is perfect.” As that thought amplifies, and as scriptures isn’t read, studied, or discussed on a normal basis, the person remains an infant in their understanding of Christianity and cling to the thoughts of imperfection. Without practical application beyond obtaining knowledge, for many, behaviors and habits from one’s old life are still practiced. People may know things and relay those things to others, but fail to put the things they say into practice. This was and at times still is something I struggle with.

Francis Chen once explained that if we fill our bellies with good fruit when we start to get hungry, we are less tempted to eat the things that we desire but are bad for us like candy. Likewise, if we fill ourselves with Gods word, study, pray, surround ourselves with Christians who build us up and hold us accountable, we will find ourselves stumbling less and growing in our faith and relationship with God more.

We as Christians need to hold each other (Christians) accountable, when the behavior or actions being displayed goes against what Christ taught. And we should prepare to ignore foolish comments or, should we respond, respond in a way that reflects Christ. Jesus calls us to love one another (even our enemies), to fulfill the commission, and to be fruitful making disciples. Christians should act in loving kindness, care for others, and build others up in Christ. He calls us to be salt and light; to live in a way that others might see Christ in us that they may come to glorify God.

For the Christians whose speech and behavior does not reflect Christ as the norm, they are “Christian” in name alone, just as a stolen valor person claims to be a “soldier” but knows nothing of military life and doesn’t act as a soldier is expected to act. Jesus said, “… love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples...” (John 13:34-35) John says later about love in 1 John 3:18 “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

TLDR: If you are a Christian, act in a way that reflects Christ. And if you are a Christian who sees a person who is a Christian acting in a way that is not as Christ would have, hold them accountable. Brothers and sisters, grow in your faith, spread the gospel, love others, and make disciples so that we may bring Gods kingdom to this broken world.

Christians should love their neighbor and enemies. Christians, also, don’t dictate what they say by whether people agree or disagree with the message they are giving. There is a difference between personal space and public space. When Paul talks of not eating meat, he is referring to engaging in activity directly with another who views the activity as sinful or a temptation that person struggles with. In the public arena, as we represent ourselves, we may do so in various ways to communicate something personal, perhaps uplifting, encouraging, loving, or theologically sound to be salt and light in the world. Christians vary at different stages in their spiritual walk but should be eager to share Christ with others from day one. Media is used as a tool by the world and by Christians to their own ends. Whether a person uses AI or not, Christians are called to love them. Christians should also be shrewd about what content they endorse or subject themselves to verses what content they don’t, whether AI or not. When commenting directly to another, if a Christian knows the person they are commenting to doesn’t like AI, then do use it as to avoid instigating or sewing discord. Likewise, if AI is being used by a Christian for God’s glory and bringing light to the world, then Christians who disagree with AI should not admonish Christians who choose to use it, but go their separate ways as Paul and Barnabas did when they disagreed about taking John Mark along. Love one another and do not hinder another from fulfilling the commission. Some will gravitate to Christians who don’t use AI, and others will gravitate to Christians who use AI. God will use both for His glory.
