it’s so funny when people say i value this kind of award too much because like… no fucking shit sherlock???? they’re actors. when people talk about an actor’s achievements and career in the industry, one of the first things they look at is whether they’ve received any awards or nominations for their work. and this matters even more for a chinese actor whose work is literally being restricted in his own home country. opportunities like this are already limited so of course i’m going to care about how his work is being represented and recognized internationally.

it genuinely feels like some of y’all want to sabotage this opportunity for him so badly bcs voicing concern is one thing but calling it a downgrade is such a fucking slap to the award itself if he does ends up winning it.

Yeah, go ahead and try to reach out to the award organization, the mailbox, or hyh all by yourself. Some people are trying to manipulate others by making it look like the actor you support said words and sentences that never even came out of his own mouth. Go take a media literacy class first, or even read a couple of books. At least read the replies of the people who answer you with evidence. The fault is on us for taking you seriously and replying just so the peace of the fandom isn't ruined.

i think we need to take a step back and actually read asian television awards’ official rules before calling this an “incorrect award categorization.”

before we raise our concerns, shouldn’t we first know how elio’s side actually submitted him and why they chose that category? and honestly, regardless of what the submission decision was, i think some fans are losing sight of the most important thing here: elio was nominated. he has an actual opportunity to win an award for dh. he has another achievement that can be added to his career. he has the opportunity to have his performance recognized by an international regional television award. for bl that shit matters.

if the real concern is discrimination against elio because he acted in a bl series, then direct that anger toward the actual barriers that prevent him and the production from being openly recognized in certain spaces. call out publications, award platforms or industry practices that actually exclude or restrict him because of double helix. don’t redirect that anger toward an award organization simply because you don’t like the category he was submitted under, especially when the organization’s own rules explicitly give the entrant the choice between lead and supporting submission.

i initially wondered too why elio was submitted under supporting rather than lead. but look at the circumstances surrounding the categories. there is also another chinese production competing in the best lead role category, while elio is being entered as a singapore representative. have we actually considered what it could mean if elio were placed directly into that category and potentially won it? this isn’t simply about whether elio is “technically the lead” in double helix. there can be complicated considerations surrounding representation, nationality, the production’s eligibility, and the political sensitivities involved when a singapore representative from a bl production is competing in a category alongside productions from mainland china.

none of us are in the room making these submission decisions. none of us know all the considerations that elio’s side had to weigh.

so turning an unknown administrative decision into “they are diminishing elio,” “they are making him look insignificant,” or “this will damage his career positioning” is a huge leap.

so yes, support elio. but supporting elio doesn’t mean we have to manufacture an enemy every time something doesn’t look exactly the way we expected.

and please don’t hide behind the label of “fan” while calling for people to attack or distrust an award organization without first understanding its rules and the circumstances behind the submission. if you genuinely care about elio’s career, focus on getting him more opportunities, more recognition, more work and more visibility because right now, elio has a nomination, a chance to win, and another achievement attached to double helix.

that is something worth being happy about.

Do you guys know when Aylio always seem the happiest?

I noticed something whenever I looked back at some of their happiest moments. It was always when they got the chance to meet the fans who genuinely love and support them.

The first time was during the Florasis event. Then came their first Fan Meeting in Bangkok, followed by the Fan Meeting in Macau. Every time, you could see how happy they were. The smiles, the excitement, the way they interacted with everyone. Those moments always felt a little different.

And now we are here again.

Hong Kong will be the fourth time. 🧡

So when I think about tomorrow, I really just want them to have another beautiful memory like those previous ones. I want them to walk away from this Fan Meeting feeling happy, loved and surrounded by people who genuinely wish the best for them.

That is why I hope everyone can be a wise fan who truly loves them.

There may be a lot of things going around right now, but please don’t let any of that take away from what we are here for. We have something much happier to look forward to tomorrow.
