If you look at the whole picture you can see Leonard, Dee and myself were spread out to deal with troublemakers. 🤣 There was that Star Wars guy in the front row. 🤔I think he was there representing the Christmas Special! 🙄😝

THE YEAR OF THE DIAMOND DOGS TOUR
“This ain’t Rock ‘n Roll…”
Yesterday we marked the 50th anniversary of the Diamond Dogs 45. Of course, the tour promoting the album of the same name also kicked off 50 years ago yesterday.
Commencing at the Forum in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 14th June, different iterations of it went on until early December, with the show having morphed from the lavish Hunger City presentation for The Year Of The Diamond Dogs Tour, into what became known as the Soul Tour or Philly Dogs Tour in October, a comparatively stripped back affair but still theatrically impressive.
The images we’ve used today are mostly from Terry O’Neill’s brilliant BOWIE BY O’NEILL. Terry caught up with the tour in LA in September. This was the same run of shows at the Universal Amphitheatre which were featured in Alan Yentob’s 1975 BBC documentary, Cracked Actor, and on the 2017 triple vinyl album CRACKED ACTOR (Live In Los Angeles 1974).
Terry had this to say of his attempts to capture the essence of Bowie during this shoot...
“It was next to impossible to capture in photographs David’s presence when performing. His shows were pure theatre.”
We understand what Terry meant, but you’ll hopefully agree he made a pretty good fist of capturing some amazing images.
