This whole thread is why I do not want people praising the Navalny documentary. It would be a big slap in the face for democracy if it won Best Documentary at the Oscars #OscarsNominations2023#Oscars2023
Many in the West praise Russian opposition leader #Navalny and the Oscar-nominated documentary about him. But there’s something else to remember: Being anti-Putin doesn’t negate Navalny’s imperialist and chauvinist views. Let’s take a look at specific examples in this thread 🧵
@SkatingScores Nope, just today Germany stated their support for a full EU Schengen visa ban on all russian passport holders. Nordic and Baltic states are already on board, so are Poland, Czechia and a few others I can't recall right now. russians won't be allowed to enter EU for competitions
@alicenotmiller@ThePopDolls I used to be a fan of his, but the last few months he has been disappointment after disappointment. I always wanted a pic with him but now I won't even spare him a second glance
@ThePopDolls If he wanted to "fully grasp the situation" he would have had a conversation with Vadym at any point during the SOI tour or the Olympics or even Worlds. He did not. It is willful negligence on his end to make such statements four years into an invasion and call it "politics"
“It’s very difficult in Dnipro right now. The constant attacks. We barely sleep at night. It’s gotten even worse lately.
It’s incredibly loud. During training, we’re constantly being taken to shelters. It’s very, very frightening, honestly.
I worry about my family. Every day I follow the news. I’m always in touch with them because I’m terrified of the war, and I love my parents very much. I’m genuinely afraid of losing them.
But we keep going because we’re Ukrainians, and we’re strong.”
Ukrainian rhythmic gymnast Varvara Chubarova speaking about life in Dnipro amid Russia’s ongoing attacks.
This is just so painful to watch. The International Gymnastics Federation is allowing Russians compete under their flag and anthem, leading to this inevitable horror: a Ukrainian silver medalist covers her ears and cries and Russians around her gleefully belt out their anthem.
The #Alumina21 campaign team is looking to gauge interest amongst NAFO lawyers, journalists and politically connected persons in the EU sphere who may be interested in pursuing our goals and joining our cause to push it “deeper and deeper”.

Kyiv came under a massive overnight russian attack.
Footage from @APT__News shows air defense systems in action, explosions near residential areas, and interceptions of aerial targets.
Thick smoke rose over the city following multiple strikes and fires.

🚨 UPD: 86 injured in Kyiv after record Russian attack.
The capital sustained its largest number of damaged locations since the full-scale invasion began.
every time I see sickle and hammer in user name I'm assuming that this person either critically illiterate or really don't really mind multiple genoc*des which were done under that symbols in history and I don't even know what's worse
