We don’t justify a bridge by the number of people swimming across a river.
We shouldn’t justify a bike lane by the number of people rubbing shoulders with cars.
Good street design doesn’t just make those people already cycling safer; it entices many more to get on their bikes.
“The right to have access to every building in the city by private motorcar in an age when everyone possesses such a vehicle is actually the right to destroy the city.” - Lewis Mumford

It's not about whether you personally want to or need to drive. It’s about understanding the simple truth that in cities, if everyone tries to move by car, no one moves much at all. So the more of us that are enticed to walk, bike & take transit, the better it is for everyone.
City of Yarra want your ideas on how to help us all to get moving. There's a lot that can be done and improved! Have YOUR say > https://t.co/seE2C3aP2j
So @YarraCouncil now has an overseer. For a council that has or had the highest bike use in Au, which has no council built protected bike lanes, I say - Good! Forget Wellington, it was paid for mostly by Vicroads, an over engineered sheer ugliness that is mostly blocked by cars
@MelbourneWay A sub optimal patch up. The angle parking is still the opposite to most civilised countries. Reverse out, with the drivers vision obscured by the C pillar and adjacent vehicles is poor practice.
Moonee Ponds Crk/Docklands: the only on-road gap in 35km off-road Capital City trail, land given to builder for YEARS! Reopen this ASAP, put a traffic controller on it if intermittent closure needed. The space is empty every time I check it. @cityofmelbourne@bikemelbourne
Wear appropriate clothing when riding your bicycle today. Carry a mask and your vax cert proof with you if you stop at the shops. Be visible by riding in a good road position, and ride safely. 🚲🚴🚵🌤🌦😷😃👍
Very disappointed that a decision could not be made at Council meeting this evening instead the community witnessed greens and socialists bicker over power and putting the public interest last.
Most people living in Victoria are interested in riding a bike, but only when protected infrastructure is provided.
Despite low participation, interest in bike riding was high in the outer Greater Melbourne area!

Streets alive yarra suggests asking council to invest in Low Traffic Neighbourhoods that are pleasant and safe for walking and biking, and investing in a network of protected bike lanes to link neighbourhoods
A big shout out to these local legends. Three #Richmond High School #students revealed themselves last week as the minds behind the leading COVID-19 tracking website, @covidbaseau.
Some bright futures ahead. 🌟
