MacWhisper 10.4 is out now with support for running local AI models through @LMStudioAI, as well as xAI support and a bunch of improvements all around.

I didn't write this tweet; I just said it out loud and had MacWhisper transcribe it for me. I'm using a shortcut called Caps Lock + R. Whenever I press it, a little blue pop-up appears, which means I can start speaking. When I press Caps Lock + R again, it stops recording, transcribes it, and also cleans up the text, fixing any hesitations or weird sentence structures automatically.
Yesterday I joined a lunch at the Developer Center in Cupertino with around 20 other people from the Apple community.
We discussed what we think can be improved about WWDC with the Developer Relations leadership team. We discussed these topics in smaller groups and then did a very honest Q&A where there was also space for things that can be improved.
Some key points that came up:
- How Labs can be improved
- The upsides and downsides between physical and virtual ones
- How to make it easier for people to engage with (the right) engineers during WWDC
- Ways in which the developer forums can be used
- How you can now post TSIs directly to the forums so they are publicly visible (if you have questions about your code you can always switch to private email ofcourse)
- The need for a developer homebase/hub/lightning rod for us all to congregate during the rest of the WWDC week so that we don't scatter to different places.
I'm curious to hear from other people who attended this year what they think can be improved for next year's edition!
