Official Statement
Comium Gambia Responds to Incident Involving GSM Tower in Foni
Banjul, The Gambia – April 20, 2025 – Comium Gambia confirms that an unfortunate incident occurred at one of our GSM tower sites in Foni, where a team member sustained critical injuries following a structural collapse. He was immediately rushed for urgent medical care and is currently under close supervision. At this moment, his health and full recovery are our absolute top priority.
We recognize that accidents, though rare, can occur in high-risk technical operations.
We are aware of the public conversation surrounding the event and wish to address it with openness and responsibility.
Comium maintains a strong commitment to safety. All operational activities are guided by health and safety protocols. In light of the incident, we have launched a full internal investigation into today's incident.
As a precaution, tower erection activities have been temporarily suspended nationwide until all necessary reviews are completed.
We take all allegations seriously, including those shared anonymously online, and are committed to a thorough and transparent evaluation. We reject any suggestion that employee safety has been compromised intentionally. Respect for our team and our communities remains core to who we are.
Additionally, we are cooperating with NAWEC and other relevant authorities regarding the impact on nearby power lines and will support any necessary restoration efforts.
We ask the public and media for patience while investigations are ongoing. Our focus, for now, is the well-being of our colleague and ensuring such incidents are never repeated.

We completed our breast and cervical cancer screening in Kwinella this past weekend! The best part was the knowledge transfer to the local nurses, health officials and support staff. The Cancer League is appreciative of everyone who supported and donated #BreastCancerAwareness
This year the Cancer League decided to take our efforts upcountry because the women there often are overlooked. Breast cancer awareness should be an all year event not just October.
#PinkOctober#BreastCancerAwareness#comium
As part of commemorations marking #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth today we collaborated with @ComiumGm to hold a seminar on the disease with their staff.
Promoting early detection through public health awareness is 🔑 to beating cancer!
