He’s turning Brooklyn into the new Mecca.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani approved a request by residents to shut down four city streets that offer “the only clear path to Mecca for large groups to pray.”

Mamdani said there is nothing more sacred than the right to pray to Allah and that the “mild inconvenience” will be welcomed by the community.

The community, which is only 11 percent Muslim, doesn’t feel the same way.

“How about if we shut down the roads outside Gracie Mansion five times a day?” said Community Organizer Jeb Narroo. “Would that be ‘inconvenient?’”

Narroo says if the Mayor doesn’t reverse his decision, that’s exactly what he and about 300 of his neighbors will do.

“We’ll march like this city hasn’t seen since the Gilded Age.”

There's a lot of gaslighting going around, so let me just validate you real quick: You have more than sufficient reason to distrust your government's promises about surveillance.

Government has shown repeated disregard for Americans' constitutional rights. Courts have often failed to defend them.

Consider: Flock cameras, Axon systems, Stingray cell-site simulators, the Patriot Act, mass data collection... and whatever they inevitably come up with next.

They're building ENTIRE SYSTEMS founded on their distrust of the peasantry, while demanding that the peasantry trust that all those systems will never be abused?

The irony is almost malicious. 🤨

Theoretically, data centers will only be used for good.

Theoretically, huge camera networks will only be used to catch really bad guys.

Theoretically, the Patriot Act will only be used against terrorists.

At her trial, the judge accepted that Martyna had been violently and sexually assaulted, but because she was carrying a knife, her actions were considered unlawful, and she was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
