I don't know who needs to see this.
There is a difference between PHYSIOTHERAPISTS ( They are certified, went through rigorous years of training, postings, internships, specialty rotations and more)
Physiotherapists are different from "Spa therapists ", "massagers", "masseuses", "masseurs", " leg and hand straighteners", " body touchers", " muscle touchers", " muscle stimulators", " muscle vibrators" or whatever funky names they call themselves.
I get so sad when I see stroke patients have stiff, contracted and rigid limbs because of adequate Physiotherapy.
You ask them if they've been getting Physiotherapy , they say Yes.
And when you dig deeper you find out that the people doing the sessions for them aren't professionals and just doing limb exercises ( because they aren't trained and just quacks).
Physiotherapy is not just massage.
It is a therapy meant to provide physiological benefits.
If you have any limb, movement problems, strokes, tumors, post surgeries, bedridden etc and your Doctor says PHYSIOTHERAPY.
Please, it is only the certified practitioners (PHYSIOTHERAPIST) not these body robbers and robbings who are just wasting time and adding no value.

@ballzy_physio@MRTBNigeria@ns_physio It's so sad. Majority of these bodies are governed by adults who don't care about technological innovations within the association. You'd be surprised that some of the professional bodies websites are not functioning well enough
Dear MRTBN, @MRTBNigeria
When I gained admission to study Physiotherapy, there were only six universities in the entire country offering the programme. Today, there are almost 20, if not more.
What this means in reality is simple:
The number of students has increased, the number of graduates has increased, but the number of available internship placements has not kept pace. Young physiotherapists are struggling. Many are left in limbo for months, sometimes years, trying to secure a placement. We keep seeing posts online from frustrated graduates who are suffering, and it should not be this way.
The MRTBN needs to take decisive action. Centralise the internship placement system. Create a fair, transparent, and structured process that ensures every physiotherapy graduate gets an opportunity without unnecessary hardship.
Enough is enough. The profession deserves better, and so do the young physiotherapists who are the future of healthcare in Nigeria.
