🔴 The neighborhood is officially known as Ngagara, but its original core — the blocks Ngagara I through Ngagara V — was developed in the 1950s by the Office des Cités Africaines (OCAF) as part of a planned residential program. This early development gave the area a distinct identity within the wider neighborhood.
Over time, residents began referring to this section simply as OCAF, and the name caught on alongside Ngagara. Today, the two names coexist: Ngagara designates the neighborhood as a whole, while OCAF refers specifically to the historic section originally built by the Office des Cités Africaines.
