This paper explores the landscape of medical devices designed to be placed inside the body, either implanted surgically or ingested like a pill.
The outer capsule of this ingestible device dissolves on exposure to gastric fluid to reveal two sampling apertures; an internal disk then dissolves and the capsule snaps closed to prevent contamination.
