I’ve learned that when someone is grieving, there’s absolutely nothing anyone can do to make them feel better. All you can do is sit there and listen to them talk. A grieving person doesn’t want to hear “you need to think positive”.. A grieving person just wants their person back and they’ll never be able to get that… So let your grieving friend/family talk about the memories, let them cry, let them laugh, let them feel. It’s the only thing they can do. ❤️‍🩹

My Parents. Under a year.

Dad had been ill so we kinda knew it would happen though not so soon but nothing prepared me for mum’s death.

There’s never been a picture of my life in my head without her.
It’s the biggest scar I carry. I have lived in so much pain since January

Life is so unfair. I now live in a very painful reality.

Sometimes it feels unreal that as at March 26th, 2024 I had both parents alive, one in perfect health but before February 2025, I became an orphan.

It’s such a struggle to stay strong especially at night and on weekends when I remember how full and noisy our house used to be.

Today, it is with humility and a great sense of honour that I thank each and every one of the 166 WTO members for the consensus they achieved in supporting my reappointment! Thank you for the wonderful words of recognition and support. I don’t take this lightly. I also want to thank my colleagues in the Secretariat Staff for their dedication and hard work.

This is an enormous responsibility and I will redouble my efforts to work with each and every member to try and deliver the results this organization needs, including the necessary reforms to make it fit for 21st century challenges. We’ve done it before, we can do it again! I am also grateful to my family, my country, to the Africa Region, and to all my friends and colleagues from all over the world who have reached out with hundreds of congratulatory messages.
