@drinkerofdreams — gasp that slips past his lips.
He shuffles closer, and responds loudly enough. “Grantaire, it’s me.”
He clears his throat. “It’s me, Enjolras.” Idiot.
He’s standing outside @drinkerofdreams’ door, a bag in one hand. He’s not sure Grantaire is even awake right now; after all, it is six thirty in the morning.
It’s worth a shot, right? If he’s up, they can start the day off early, and if he isn’t, then Enjolras will —
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras waits by the door, nervous and uneasy as he tries to convince himself that everything is fine, that Grantaire won’t make fun of him for planning out a whole day just for him.
He jumps as Grantaire’s voice booms through the speaker, barely covering the startled —
— wait around and do some adjusting to his plans.
He presses the doorbell and waits, thinks about all the ways this could go wrong. He’s not one to overthink, at least not negatively, but with Grantaire, things are different. Enjolras is so scared of messing things up —
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras is silent for a few moments, the only audible sound is that of his shaky breathing. He leans in, hesitant and then presses his lips to Grantaire’s.
“Thank you,” he says as they part. “I love you.”
@drinkerofdreams His lips are curled in a small pour, an almost pleading look falling over his visage. He’s still holding Grantaire’s hand, squeezing it just a little tighter every passing second.
“You don’t have to agree with me,” he says, and it stings. “But stay by my side. Please.”
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras shakes his head. He has his mind set on this protest, even though he’s aware of every risk. He knows what might go wrong and yet he can’t bring himself to back down.
At the male’s tone he moves, closes the distance between them by taking his hand in his. —
@drinkerofdreams “It’s not pointless!” He responds, and his voice is a little higher, a little shakier than usual. He takes a few moments to collect himself. An argument is the last thing he needs.
“We’re getting somewhere, Grantaire. And it saddens me that you don’t see that.”
@drinkerofdreams He doesn’t want to argue, can feel the anxiety build up in him at the mere thought of an argument erupting. He presses his lips together.
“We’ve been planning this for ages.”
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras stands a few feet away, fidgety and at unease at the way Grantaire is looking at him. It’s only after the room clears out that he makes an effort to get closer.
“What’s on your mind?” He asks, but as soon as he speaks, he begins to dread the response.
@drinkerofdreams — efforts to stop him from doing this.
He can see him from the corner of his eye, shaking his head, and while it upsets him that Grantaire disapproves, he doesn’t feel the need to cancel this protest.
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras picks up where Combeferre left off, reading from his notes and pointing enthusiastically. He might be anxious, but every protest and every meeting fuels him with enough passion to make him forget about his nerves.
Enough passion to make him ignore Grantaire’s —
@drinkerofdreams — ignores it, assumes it’s anxiety and decides to power through it.
He’s at the front of the room like he always is, arms crossed and brows furrowed as he listens carefully to Combeferre. His attention diverts, his gaze coming to meet Grantaire’s.
He softens. —
@drinkerofdreams Enjolras turns to him, arm still linked with his, and he nods. It’s a hesitant movement, but it’s there.
“Yeah, yeah. Of course we are.”
