I have been married for over half of that of Pastor Enenche, and I have been with my wife for close to 27 years now. I will tell you that this advise is wrong, you should not heed to it.

As a married couple, all the income that comes into the family, from both the man and his wife belongs to the family. Nothing belongs to them separately except what they have both agreed on.

What I require in a wife

1. You must prioritize our home over your work.

2. Present for the kids: I don’t need a full-time career woman. I need a woman who is available and devoted to raising our children properly.

3. Traditional by choice: Work if you truly want to, but I strongly prefer and will support a full-time homemaker and mother.

4. If you work, you’re home by 7 PM latest. No late nights at the office. Family time is sacred.

5. No violence; You don’t hit me; I will never hit you.

6. You cook my meals, not a maid. I’m not outsourcing my wife’s role.

7. Choose your circle wisely: Limit close female friends, especially single mothers or those with chaotic lifestyles.

8. No feminists: I want zero tolerance for modern feminist ideology in my home or marriage.

10. No 50/50 nonsense: I am the primary provider. You support where you can and I can always rely on you for help and support.

You only realize this during emergencies. A fire breaks out and there is no fire service. An accident happens and there is no first aid, no ambulance, no system.

Today, a world boxing champion like Anthony Joshua was involved in a car accident and not a single ambulance showed up. Someone that rich and globally known. People only gathered around him like it was a carnival. No safety measures. No trained response. Just chaos.
An accident that claimed two lives o!

Last month, an aide to a sitting governor was stabbed at a political event.. Somebody lifted him on his shoulder ! Such a gory sight!
Still no ambulance
Not even for a governor’s aide.

That is real poverty.

In Nigeria, money does not save you in a crisis. Influence does not protect you. When it matters most, everyone is poor.

To the rich and influential Nigerian who thinks demanding a better country is for the poor masses, one day you will understand. In an emergency, you are just as poor as the rest of us.

Whoever sold the gospel of marriage to Nigerai women did them a great disservice. And the person is long gone, otherwise, an apology would have been necessary, to please come and take his/her gospel back.

Sometimes, when you hear the unspeakable things some women endure just to remain married, and your sanity instantly rebel against it. You find yourself wondering how staying married became more important than dignity, safety, peace, and selfhood. The things some women tolerate in the name of “keeping a home” are beyond comprehension.

There are moments I am genuinely grateful I am not a woman, because I cannot imagine subjecting myself to such humiliation, pain, and emotional violence just to keep any man. No relationship should demand the erasure of one’s humanity as proof of commitment.
