These are the ever present risks in issues in real estate business in the country.
I just read that @FirstBankngr is about to raise public capital of N253 billion...about the third time in under 24 months. This endless cycles of capital raise is mind boggling, dilutes shareholding and may end up as before - Substantial write-off as non-performing risk assets running into hundreds of billions of naira. I just hope they have put the plan for a new corporate head office in the cooler for at least now. We want active income generating assets and better risk underwriting. Management needs to be better stewards of shareholders resources.
Nice hospital buildings are good. I hope its also populated with doctors, nurses and administrators who are professional and will provide health care services in good conscience, not tin-gods without empathy who ride roughshod over patients. Period.
Truly stunning!
The 300-bed Enugu International Hospital is nearing completion. The super-specialist referral hospital is now equipped with world-class, state-of-the-art medical infrastructure designed to meet global standards of healthcare delivery.
The installed facilities feature advanced clinical and diagnostic units, including 3 fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) suites, a cardiac critical unit (CCU), 4 modern operating theatres, cardiac catheterization laboratory (cath lab), recovery unit, physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre, endoscopy suite, and comprehensive radiology department with CT scan, MRI, mammography, and other imaging systems.
It also includes a fully equipped laboratory, modern pharmacy, blood bank, and a dialysis unit with 6 dialysis machines, dental and optometry units, cesarean section (C-section) unit, as well as outpatient and inpatient departments. The advanced oncology center is not left out.
In addition, every ward and patient room is integrated with concealed medical gas pipeline systems supplying oxygen, medical vacuum (suction), and compressed air, alongside reliable electrical and nurse-call systems to ensure efficient and continuous patient monitoring and care.
Support and service units such as sterilization (CSSD), medical records, ambulance services, laundry, housekeeping, and biomedical engineering are also incorporated to ensure seamless hospital operations and strict adherence to global healthcare standards.
This signature project stands as a sturdy testament to the visionary leadership and reform-driven governance of Governor Peter Mbah, whose administration continues to prioritize healthcare transformation and the establishment of world-class medical infrastructure in Enugu State, positioning it as a hub for medical tourism.
Tomorrow is indeed here!
This is quite unfortunate and anybody who thinks this state of dilapidated and unhygenic hostels/conveniences is limited to @unn_tweets should walk into any of the public universities. Its just a matter of varying degrees of wear, tear, and filth. Even when modern institutions are built for them, maintaining it is such an impossible task. About 15 months ago, i attended a program at the building in Enugu donated to the same UNN just a few years ago by the CBN, and nothing works there. No water, generator etc. and yeas, the conveniences were in a state. I put the blame for this state of affairs squarely on
1. The University Administrators enbodied in the VC who are mostly inept, and lack any vision of how to grow an academic institution. How many of them pay any attention to funding options for growth etc. They come in, do theor tenure, enjoys the perks and quietly exit.
2. The Alumni who can, but have failed to create a proper alumni body that can be development agents and pressure groups to raise monies for these schools and force the administrators to use these monies for school development and upgrade. Take the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in question. It has some of the most celeberated Alumni like Gov Dave Umahi, Obi Cubana, Peter Obi and a host of others who are either quite succesful as politicians or business men. I know Peter Obi rescued the School of Dentitstry of the same UNN which is not becoming notorious for all things negative, only last year. He provided the werewithal so that they lose accreditation and also expanded capacity of the School. Meanwhile there is Provost of that College of Medicine and a Vice Chancellor who are probably more interested in those big titles and the perks of office rather than driving any meaningful growth and developments in those institutions.
This is male hostel for University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN). Eni Njoku hostel to be precise.
Every student in this hostel is living worst than prisoners.
We canβt continue this way.

A certain politician associated with those names is playing a long term game while other politicians are focused on 2027. In the not too distant future when he runs for his preferred office, it will be a "No lose" situation for him. If you win him in the ballot, he will take it back in court. When he retires you also can't charge investigate or prosecute him in court because his wife will be a supreme court justice and the precedent by The Odilis is there to follow.
