To everyone celebrating.
To everyone resting.
To everyone still figuring things out.
There is no one way to belong.
Happy Pride Month💛🌈

Maybe pride is not always loud.
Maybe sometimes it looks like finding people who understand you.
Feeling safe.
Feeling seen.
Feeling at home.
That counts too 💛🌈

100+ queer Africans, in the diaspora and back home, found their way to Ife. We didn’t advertise. No paid reach. Just word of mouth and a community that was ready for this.

Some of us spent years thinking we had to choose between being queer and being African.
Like there wasn’t space to be both! Ife exists because we know that feeling.
For queer Africans, wherever home is 🌍💛

A lot of you told us you want to connect with people closer to you. So we made it happen
You can now find people by distance, city, and proximity, not just far away matches.
And we made messaging simpler too. Just open and see your conversations.

Kito is real!!
And even when it’s called something else, the experience is the same.
We’ve been listening.
So we built Ife with safety in mind:
✅Hide Me.
✅Private accounts.
✅Blur photos.
✅Reporting tools.
This is just the beginning.
🛡️💛 https://t.co/EXlTzCAog9
@virgintwink122@HartAbel1 The reality is, no platform can fully stop them from signing up.
What we’re doing is reducing risk, flags for new profiles, control over who can reach you, quick reporting, and “Hide Me” when needed.
We’re building with that reality in mind, as safety comes first.
@ShawnStone97050 You’re right, it doesn’t solve everything.
But it’s a step.
We’re building this with the reality in mind, and improving it continuously.
@FavourOnyebuen1@AlafinOfOgun Thank you Favour. As we are always looking to improve, feel free to send us your feedback on how we can always do better and keep our community safe. Happy browsing on Ife 💛
@KOsajie Thanks Kingsley. We’re a web app for now, free to use, with no ads or subscriptions.
You can access it at https://t.co/EXlTzCAog9 from any browser.
We’re working toward launching on the App Store & Google Play soon. Also always looking to improve & would appreciate feedback!
We’ve been listening. Ife now has safety features built specifically for queer Africans in high-risk environments.
✅Hide Me.
✅Blur your photos.
✅Private account.
✅Optional location.
✅Quick exit.
Your safety matters to us.🛡️💛

@KOsajie That’s indeed a fair concern.
In many places, features like hiding or blurring are about safety, not deception.
We’re also building reporting tools, warnings, and trust signals to reduce abuse.
No app can guarantee complete safety, but we’re building with that reality in mind.
@KOsajie@AlafinOfOgun Hi Kingsley, we have taken extra steps to protect everyone who uses the app against kitos and any individual who maybe of harm. You can read our privacy and help policy to learn more. Here for you always💛

A small win! A real one🎉
Botswana has officially removed its colonial era law criminalizing same-sex intimacy.
Progress is not perfect.
But it is happening.
And it is worth holding onto.
We are building for a future where safety is not a privilege.🛡️ https://t.co/EXlTzCAog9
