Within less than 24 hours, the @IFRC Supply Chain mobilized and dispatched life-saving relief items from our regional logistics hub in Panama, ensuring critical assistance was on its way to the affected communities without delay.
Preparedness makes the difference. By strategically prepositioning emergency stocks, maintaining regional logistics capacity, and working closely with our partners and the Venezuelan Red Cross, we can move from alert to action in hours. #IFRCSupplyChain
Our IFRC Americas Regional Director Loyce Pace spoke with @CNN about the critical 72-hour rescue window in Venezuela, the hidden dangers of damaged structures, and how the Red Cross is coordinating efforts to respond.
This material - 17 tonnes of essential kit - was loaded at Tocumen International Airport at 4am Panama-time this morning - and has just arrived at Libertador Air Base in Venezuela. The cargo includes kitchen sets, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, and other essential items. It'll soon be making a huge difference in the areas hit worst by the earthquakes. The operation demonstrates how the @IFRC’s supply chain is adapting in real time under immense pressure.
This is just the beginning. Thanks to our Emergency Appeal, more will follow soon. My thanks to IFRC and National Society Red Cross staff and volunteers for making this happen and for all the work you’ve done, and will do.
"Our volunteers are working alongside government authorities 24/7. It's really a search and rescue operation." - Loyce Pace, MPH, IFRC Regional Director for the Americas
In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Venezuela, Red Cross teams are on the ground supporting search and rescue efforts, providing emergency assistance, and delivering vital mental health and psychosocial support to people affected.
Many of our staff and volunteers have been impacted themselves, yet they continue to serve their communities with extraordinary dedication.
The @IFRC is working alongside the @CruzRojaVe and partners across the IFRC Movement to help ensure families receive the support they urgently need, today and throughout the recovery ahead.
Fewer than 36 hours after two strong earthquakes struck Venezuela, the @IFRC has launched an Emergency Appeal for 50 million Swiss francs. Money raised will support the Venezuelan Red Cross in assisting 300,000 people seriously hit.

"Hope is still there, and the entire emergency response machine is working for it." @TDellaLonga, IFRC spokesperson
As the critical search and rescue window continues, @CruzRojaVe volunteers are working alongside authorities to save lives, provide first aid, and offer psychological support to people who have lost everything in seconds.
The @IFRC has already mobilized 17 tonnes of humanitarian aid from its Panama logistics hub and launched a nearly CHF 50 million emergency appeal to support life-saving assistance and the long recovery ahead.
"This is not something that will be solved in a few days or a few weeks. We're looking at a recovery process that will last months, if not years. This is why it's so important to show solidarity, not only now, but in the months and years to come."
Together with the Venezuelan Red Cross, the IFRC remains committed to supporting affected communities every step of the way.
Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, Red Cross volunteers were among the first to assess the damage, support affected communities, and coordinate with authorities to identify urgent humanitarian needs.
"Our first priority is to assess the damage. We want to understand who's affected, where, and to what extent," Loyce Pace, IFRC Regional Director for the Americas.
The @IFRC is supporting the @CruzRojaVe by mobilizing emergency supplies already prepositioned in the country and across the Americas, including hygiene kits, cooking sets, and medical supplies. At the same time, the IFRC is deploying additional personnel, coordinating closely with government authorities, and working with the IFRC network across the region to deliver life-saving assistance as quickly as possible.
As assessments continue, teams are also helping provide emergency shelter, health care, psychosocial support, and essential relief for people who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

Following the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, the @IFRC has launched a CHF 2 million allocation from its Disaster Response Emergency Fund (DREF) to support the Venezuela Red Cross as it delivers urgent, lifesaving assistance.
"Our priority is to save lives under the rubble," said IFRC spokesperson @TDellaLonga. "We know by experience that the first hours after an earthquake are really critical."
@CruzRojaVe volunteers are already supporting search and rescue, emergency medical care and relief efforts using pre-positioned stocks, while the global IFRC network mobilizes additional support.
The needs are growing by the minute. The @IFRC_DREF allocation will help scale up the immediate response and support affected communities in the critical hours ahead.
As the Red Cross response gathers pace following two powerful earthquakes in north-central Venezuela, CHF 2 million from the IFRC Disaster Response Emergency Fund @IFRC_DREF has been approved to support urgent action on the ground.
The @IFRC is preparing to launch an Emergency Appeal very soon to support people affected by the earthquakes.
The Venezuelan Red Cross @CruzRojaVe is operational and responding, supporting evacuations and search efforts, carrying out rapid assessments, delivering care through its hospitals and polyclinics, and mobilising relief supplies for affected communities. https://t.co/2xkiiJOFxx
Two powerful back-to-back earthquakes have struck north-central Venezuela, damaging homes, disrupting essential services and leaving urgent humanitarian needs emerging.
The Venezuelan Red Cross @CruzRojaVe is operational and responding, with hospitals and polyclinics continuing to deliver care. Rescue teams are supporting evacuations and search efforts, while assessment teams evaluate needs and relief supplies are being mobilised.

Year after year, thousands of Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers and staff from around the world gather in Solferino, Italy, to celebrate the history of our movement.
Thank you volunteers for lighting up the world with your kindness.
Thank you for keeping the Solferino flame burning.🕯️
As temperatures soar across Europe, extreme heat is becoming one of the most dangerous humanitarian challenges of our time.
"Take a moment to check in on a neighbour, a family member, or anyone you know who could be more vulnerable. That simple act can save a life." - @BirgitteEbbesen, IFRC Regional Director for Europe
Across Europe, Red Cross volunteers are distributing water, opening cooling spaces, making welfare calls, and reaching people most at risk from extreme heat.
"Extreme heat is now one of the defining humanitarian challenges of our time, a major public health risk that demands action from people, institutions, and governments alike." - @maryfriel, IFRC Climate Policy Senior Officer
As this heatwave intensifies, stay informed, follow local guidance, and check on those who may need support.

When Henry Dunant saw the battlefields of Solferino on June 24th, 1859, the idea of the Red Cross was born.
Together, and all across the world, Let's keep paving a path of humanity.
Let’s keep the flame burning.
Happy Solferino 2026!
Another heatwave is gripping Europe.
As temperatures climb, Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies across the continent are mobilizing staff and volunteers to keep communities safe: distributing water, setting up cooling stations, providing first aid, and checking in on those most at risk through door-to-door visits and safe-and-well calls.
In Italy, the Italian Red Cross @crocerossa is running its "Climate and Health" campaign offering families a home heat emergency plan and free skin health checks.
As another intense heatwave sweeps across Europe, we're urging everyone to take heat warnings seriously and check in on those most at risk, including older people, children, people with chronic illnesses, outdoor workers, and those without access to cool spaces.
Heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable. Early action saves lives.

No one should face extreme heat alone.

191 teams. Different flags. One jersey. ⚽❤️🌍
As the world comes together for the FIFA World Cup, the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement stands united too, 191 National Societies, one shared commitment to humanity.
“Even with discussions around a ceasefire, what we are seeing on the ground is an escalation of extremely worrying humanitarian concerns.”
Speaking to @SkyNews, @ruben__romero, Head of Delegation for Lebanon at the IFRC, described the reality facing families across the country: over 1 million people displaced, communities destroyed, and many with no homes to return to.
Together with the @RedCrossLebanon, the @IFRC is supporting people with food, safe water, essential household items, psychosocial support, and safe spaces for children. But with only 13% of the emergency appeal funded, the gap between growing needs and available resources remains critical.
Humanitarian needs cannot wait. Families in Lebanon need sustained support today and long after the fighting stops.
