Syria and Israel were considered to be one province during Roman times, hence the term Syria Palaestina.
Even the Jews in Israel were known as Palestinians & held Palestinian passports before 1948, cos Palestine is Israel.

Only a few of them returned or remained in Israel, which the Romans (most probably Emperor Hadrian) renamed as Syria Palaestina.

And then, when Moses led the Jews out of Egypt and they returned, Joshua renamed the land as Israel.

Many of the Ethiopians are said to have Jewish ancestry. Some Asian people were also found to have Jewish ancestry and they migrated to Israel many years ago.

The United Nations & the Jews were very considerate to give parts of Israel to the Palestinians, when Israel was formed.
Now I do not know the boundaries of the land given to them.

@chelsea_slim @hammerofleft The hotel staff, the store owners or the Kibbutz people where we had lunch or dinner, they didn't treat us differently either. I actually felt safer in the Jewish areas than in the Palestinian controlled areas, that is West Bank.

Our guide was Jewish who follows Judaism, former IDF man as well. He didn't treat us differently or look down on us. He was a great guide actually
