🎥 Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO) in cTrader - how it works and how to use it
In this video, we explore the Detrended Price Oscillator (DPO) in cTrader Web - a momentum-based indicator designed to remove longer-term price cycles and help traders focus on short-term momentum.
You’ll learn what the DPO is and how it works by subtracting a moving average from price, allowing short-term cyclical movements to stand out more clearly. The video explains why this makes the indicator useful for analysing current momentum and refining trade entries, rather than identifying long-term trends.
We show where to find the DPO in cTrader, its default setup using a 21-period Simple Moving Average (SMA) applied to closing prices, and how to customise its appearance, visibility across timeframes, and levels. Particular attention is given to the zero line, which is used in the video as a key reference point for short-term momentum shifts.
You’ll also see two practical ways the DPO is applied:
• Joining trends by aligning price structure (higher highs and higher lows, or lower highs and lower lows) with DPO zero-line crosses after corrections
• Identifying extreme overbought and oversold conditions by comparing unusually high or low DPO peaks relative to recent price cycles, helping highlight potential reversal areas

🎥 Fractals in cTrader - how they work and how to use them
In this video, we break down the Fractals indicator in cTrader - a simple and widely used technical analysis tool that helps identify potential reversal points by highlighting local highs and lows on the chart. Traders also often use Fractals to improve timing when analysing breakouts in the direction of the prevailing trend.
You’ll learn where to find Fractals in cTrader and how the indicator works using its default 5-period setting. The video explains the core logic behind Fractals: a central candle forms an up fractal only if the two candles before and the two candles after fail to create a higher high, while a down fractal forms when surrounding candles fail to create a lower low.
We also show how to customise Fractals in cTrader, including defining bullish and bearish fractals, adjusting line thickness, and controlling visibility across different timeframes and chart types. The walkthrough demonstrates how increasing the period can provide a broader market view.

🎥 Tick Volume in cTrader - what it shows and how to use it
In this video, we explore Tick Volume in cTrader - a technical indicator that measures market activity by counting the number of price changes (ticks) within a selected period. Unlike traditional volume indicators that track the number of shares or contracts traded, Tick Volume focuses on the frequency of price movement, offering context on how active the market is.
You’ll learn where to find Tick Volume in cTrader and how to customise its settings, including visibility and levels. The walkthrough then shows how higher tick volume reflects stronger market participation and increased volatility, while declining tick volume can signal fading interest during an ongoing move. We also look at how traders use Tick Volume to support breakout confirmation and how divergence (price making higher highs while tick volume forms lower highs) can point to a potential shift in momentum.
